I've never looked into it, but I imagine what with the commonwealth relatively easier mobility, you had larger and more permanent Indian underclasses. Most of the people from India who go to the U.S. are much more educated and much more professionally inclined, so less likely to fall into the street gang lifestyle.
Nah it's because there's a free niche in those markets which means gangs can move in. People extremely exaggerate Indians in the Us depute many of them being poor or not exactly well off since people just hyperfocus on the West Coast Visa immigrants. There are other ethnic groups with higher education rates in the Us with worse employment and/or income.
The secret to immigrant success is to form shadow institutions like the Chinese have been doing in the US for decades, they have their own 'welcoming committees' that will give you a no interest loan to set up a business with a lot of guidance on how to pander to American customers and then sustained support like lawyers and accountants that will help you until you get your feet under you, and once you do get out of the city and set up somewhere (almost always near satellite Chinese communities) they run systems where everyone pools money annually with one person getting the pool each year. If you didn't get it this year you will get it soon so everyone contributes to ensure the community can keep going. It's a really interesting community that's basically invisible to mainstream culture.

That's pretty interesting because it differs a lot compared to the Indo-Carribean diaspora as well as the Indo-African one. Granted all three have radically different histories and I think Indians in NA trickled in very slowly early on while the other two came to their respective destinations in bigger groups.
pretty accurate, i've seen all this firsthand. compared to white families, who more or less occasionally get together for barbeques or christmas, it's pretty nuts how tight-knit Chinese diaspora communities are. the ideal of Confucian family clans seems to be extremely embedded within our cultural psyche.
Every single Chinese mother knows every single other Chinese family and is comfortable with each other to the point of using hidden keys for opening each other's front doors to drop off groceries (from their communal shared shopping list on WeChat and designated coupon-hunters rotated in weekly shifts) inside. Every new incoming FOB from the Mainland and their entire life story is figured out and spread around by nosy ass Chinese women before even the federal government stamps their passport.
That's also why, strangely enough, even the lower-class Chinese diaspora never, ever snitches anything to the police. Read in detail about LAPD officers questioning Chinese and Vietnamese civilians about Triad gang crimes and how impossible it is to get them to say anything. the cops think it's just easy to write off old Chang ladies as dumb and not knowing anything, but they're not that stupid. it's a cultural thing. If a Chinese son or daughter misbehaves, the entire Chinese community shuts up about it to outsiders, because they know the kid's own father is going to punish the shit out of them with a table leg or belt behind closed doors anyway.

You have hundreds of millions of Americans with German and Italian surnames who can't speak a lick of either language because if their ancestors had been caught speaking their mother tongue on the street, they would have had the shit beaten out of them by the descendants of Irish and English immigrants who had arrived generations earlier.
By contrast, most other nations' immigrant communities maintain their distinct identity, often for centuries after their arrival, with descendants still being able to speak their mother tongue and marrying within their own community.

This is correct. Bear in mind that many, possibly most of this Irish didn't speak English as their first language either when they first arrived either. The Celtic languages in Britain and Ireland were stomped by the state in the 19th century.
This an Anglo-Saxon thing as much as an American thing. The way the English work is they won't discriminate against you for your ethnic background so long as you don't conspicuously identify with your ethnic background. They're fine with Irish Catholics so long as they subordinate it their Irishness and Catholicism to the private sphere but resort to subtle social ostracism if you overstep the bound, and gradually this causes people to eventually cease to identify with their ethnic background. It's a mixture of tolerance and intolerance which is very effective at assimilating people in a matter of generations.
The English don't hate other races *in themselves*, they hate other races insofar as they represent other national modes of being and other civilisations.

We filter a lot and frickton of people ignore that many Indians did not come to the Us through visa to tech companies. Many of it is through FAMILY or sponsorships but most Americans don't know of that shit (or the loopholes) so they all think they get "the cream of the crop".
