Having met people from both places, I have to admit that I liked the Chinese more than I liked the Germans.
Because World War 2 was already happening in example 1 and MacArthur would have absolutely caused World War 3 if given free reign to act during the Korean War. Every other leader looked at that and said "we should not destroy human civilization over Korea, who fricking cares" and agreed to maintain parameters around the conflict to prevent escalation. Even the Chinese agreed Korea was simply not the flashpoint for that and it was on their border.

Literally go and read any book about the first year of the Korean War. Hell even Max Hastings mentions it in his Korean War book (he takes the side of Turman and the British officers).
