computer file systems are like countries the little pictures in your folders are actually people who belong to certain tribes (file extensions) and you need to pick and choose either an ethnofilestate or a melting pot of webps and jpgs and avifs and probably some bad actors that will revolt or undermine the host system.

I have my website convert and cache for me on the fly. I can't be arsed to convert my pictures every time I want to add new content.
