      French contribution on D-Day
      >Only a few French infantry were involved in the Allied landing operations on June 6, 1944. There were 209- 177 commandos and 32 airborne troopers.[36] Additional personnel include a hundred French air force fighter and bomber pilots and hundreds of sailors from the French navy.[36]

details of what they each did:

Free France and the concept of a French Resistance is for the most part one giant LARP they came up with after the liberation of their country by Commonwealth and US forces.
Of course after the krauts got their shit wrecked they were all tripping over themselves to pretend they were part of resistance movements and cells. Hell, even those that were involved in those cells mostly just provided information. At least the partisans in eastern europe actually DID shit.

      >At least the partisans in eastern europe actually DID shit.
The shit they mostly did was steal food from peasants.
In Western Europe you knew that for every German you killed they would kill 10 French civilians in retaliation. You'd have to be an idiot (or a communist) to fight under such circumstances.

        >yugoslav partisans tied down entire german, italian and collaborator armies and managed to liberate themselves by the end of the war
        >french guerillas formed tiny ineffective groups and mainly fought each other over ideological disagreements and food
hmm makes you wonder who the real subhumans are

          >yugoslav partisans
Tito's partisans, the guys who Wanted the nazis to slaughter their countrymen, since it would radicalize the population and turn them to communism. The Chetniks kept their heads down, just like all the other resistance movements in Europe because they were sane.
You know you are supposed to fight the enemy to protect your people, right?

never said they were good people, just that they had the more effective military strategy
and before you say it, waiting for the US and britain to liberate france is not a strategy

            >waiting for the US and britain to liberate france is not a strategy
But waiting for US and Britain to liberate France while getting some innocent people killed in a futile fight that contributes nothing to the greater scheme of things is a totally viable strategy, right?

Most of the allied forces landed in the days after the initial landings. Including the free French and all the other minor allied forces, the Australians, the Polish etc.
There is some weird obsession with literally being on the beaches day one, even an American president brought this up recently. Of course it was an incredible achievement and demonstrated the bravery and skill of the soldiers on that day, but the war was huge in scope.

deGaul was an anti-American fighting from the safety of the UK. During WWII when my dad and exhausted Americans troops got to Paris he said Frenchmen were strolling around like they did not have a care in the world. US troops despised them
