        Greeks had a longer run

Start of Greek civilization: Mycenaeans 1500 BC, Last time they were able to project power far from their homeland 1180 BC (Manuel Komnenos) end of their civilization 1453 AD, total: roughly 3000 years

Starr of Venetian civilization: 800 AD
Last time they were able to project power far from their homeland 1650 AD (Morosini), end of their civilization: 1800 AD (Napoleon), total: roughly 1000 years

          >Greeks had a longer run
Greek civilization disappeared for centuries after the mycenaeeans. Their classical age lasted one century. After that there was the hellenistic period where they got ack'd by rome. Greekness only came back in the form of the byzantine empire which was one of the most pathetic empires in history. 3000 years is far too generous.

Greeks colonized Anatolia and Cyprus during the so called Greek “dark ages”, they were able to project power far away, but even if we ignore it, you got 1550 - 1200 BC = Mycenaeans, 750-150 BC = Post DA Greeks, so 350+ 600 = 950 years before the Roman conquest, not ‘100’ years as you claimed previously (out of ignorance or dishonesty?)

            >Byzantines were pathetic
Byzantines held way more territory than Venice, Byzantines created the biggest dome structure in the world, Byzantines preserved ancient texts in the bazillions, Byzantines created the Suda, Byzantines created military treatises, Byzantines were the best mosaicists of their time, Venetians had a good run, but compared to the Greeks, they are babies on the shoulders of giants

Greeks only ruled themselves during Mycenaeans and archaic/classical period
So like 1/6 of their history
The rest was others projecting power on them

Did they invent hydraulic organs, fire hoose, tradmill cranes, greek fire, catapults??Conic sections? Diophantine equations? Did they write something that rivals with Arisoteles, who came up with formal logic?? What Venetian writings compare with the Homeric poems? The autobiography of that pervert Casanova? No they didn't
Myceneans got conquered in the late bronze age and their scrips was literally forgotten until a brit deciphered it recently
Them emerged in the archaic and classical period only to be conquered and ruled by barbarian greekized macedonians
And then the romans, byzantium whose dynasties originated from literally everywhere except greece, venetians, genoese, florentines, other italian families, french latins, basques, catalans, slavs, serbs, bulgars, turks, bavarians, danes, etc

            >Myceneans got conquered in the late bronze age
They did not. Greeks were the only people living in Greece both during and after the Mycenaean period. There was internal strife. No proof of any foreign invasion.
            >and their scrips was literally forgotten until a brit deciphered it recently
            So?
            >Them emerged in the archaic and classical period only to be conquered and ruled by barbarian greekized macedonians
After 400 years, and Macedonians were Greek themselves, and didn't conquer all of Greece to begin with.
            > byzantium
Greek/Macedonians for the most part, and spoke Greek
            > venetians, genoese, florentines
only for 3 centuries out of 1000 years of independent Byzantium, and never ruled all of it
            >basques, catalans, slavs, serbs, bulgars, turks, bavarians, danes, etc
You're insane, just being employed by Byzantines doesn't mean they ruled it, only the Catalans had a small stable presence there as a fiefdom and for a short time

Venice was like other mercantile republics (Netherlands and England), they weren't interested in assimilating foreiginers into their culture. Venice thrived on trade from their high-trust communal background.
