    >He lived a decent, respectable life.
so did millions of other men.
it's a tragedy because it was a wasted life.
also, he should've fought in the war. Everything would've been better.

Last thing he needed was more traumas. Not going to the war was smart. "Some homosexual Austrian was killed by a Bosnian, therefore, an American from Missouri should go and die!". It's stupid.

Why live? Even people at eighty years old are simply told they must live in order to experience life. Remulus chooses life because he isn't a quitter and is tragically slain by his brother. Romulus chooses power because he is an untermensch. While the state of society is thusly that, power, it does not last. Therefore I choose to be Stoner any life! I kissed my true love, I saw goodness in everyone. To be perfect is to be in madness. What if your power is in not faith but imagination? Words need no power to be backed up. They will not command me.

My life was empty otherwise than key defining moments. I live in the shadows because I carry myself with my mother and father's blessing. My mom never told me I was the Messiah unlike Jesus' mom. The difference between mine and Jesus' ending? Is that I live and Jesus dies. I wonder what it's like being trapped in the collective unconscious dream of all living beings. Must be worse than hell to experience the worst a cat a dog a monkey a bird a humans worst fears.

His wife is fundamentally unhappy with his station and the man that can alter his station hates him personally. The only person he actually likes is ruined by his attentions. It's not ideal, to say the least.

imagine marrying before having sex with the other person lmao.
only a virgin christcuck larper defends this type of shit, just like only virgins are against abortions.
If stoner had sex with that b***h beforehands none of it would have happened since everything that was wrong with the relationship started after they had sex.

the biological advantages of the virgin wife (pairbonding, clean from stds, the kid is definitely yours) are actually impossible to assure now that anyone can say whatever they want without any repercussion. In a social system that does not punish lies, one must assume everyone is lying, and construct life choices under that notion.
No such thing as a modern trad wife, one should still test the dna of the baby

    >“As far as I am concerned, I resign from humanity. I no longer want to be, nor can still be, a man. What should I do? Work for a social and political system, make a girl miserable? Hunt for weaknesses in philosophical systems, fight for moral and esthetic ideals? It's all too little.”

the book was shit and the stoner was a massive homosexual and even bigger pussy. Absolutely nothing of interest happens in the entire book (I implore you to name one memorable part). I suspect this board loves Stoner because it's about a spineless academic who studies literature and many IQfy browsers can relate to that. With that being said, the writing flows very well and you can read a lot of it without putting it down, which is at least something.

Walker’s dissertation scene where Stoner destroys that fraud. Pure kino.

Im with you OP. If you focus on the shitty parts of life it's going to look like .... SHIT. That's life. Anyone could be a Stoner if they suck all the pleasure out of life by focusing on the moments that suck ass. I think that this is why midwit Doomers are taken in by this book. They want to see life as one tragedy after the next to justify being lonely, nihilistic and miserable.
