Was never about the form, it was always about the function. Get to what I need, know what part fits where, in and out in seconds. I dont' even remember the color scheme, but I know exactly where to click for 'integrated devices' in mili-seconds flat.
>this is our modern day weak men make hard times
if you prioritize aesthetics over function then it's a you problem. simple as
SOVL/SOVL

go learn more English, please, and remind pedos that they belong on /b/

same thing
a grown man typing that is possibly the cringiest thing. Ever.
its when gamers found out about the bios and how they can "make games faster by overclocking"
So 20 years ago?
if anything, it's the current hardware trend that makes OC nonexistent or negligible for reasonable gains, specially so on intel cpus
Aptio from AMI still looks the same though.
You can clearly tell the bottom one has been optimized for Gamers(tm) and offers a better performance.
imagine having so little going on in your life that you have enough energy to seethe over something like this
It's a small detail. But it's a part of a grander scheme you should actually care about.
What really irk me is the tedium linked to uefi management cmdlets. They have the design space needed to implement all that useless fluff. But somehow, all iterations of cmdlets are utter trash. Especially once you have set a password.
Years later, we are still sending techies from the proximity service to change mundane uefi settings. Just because we cannot wrap our head around doing it remotely via the cmd. Bloody waste of everyone's time.

you're being laughed at, not seethed over. slight difference little guy.
>please stop noticing
why do redditors always resort to censorship instead of debating ideas?
>debating ideas?
nothing gets debated. this is "old good new bad" thread number 10,000. must be new here.
this is "old bad new good" argument number 10,000. you must be new here.
>newbie seething because he can't have his circlejerk to cry about the west collapsing (something he's done every day for the past 8 years) in peace
we laugh at the childish design, not seethe over it. slight difference little guy.

What kind of sniveling boot licking subhuman would pretend otherwise?

UEFI added graphics
chinks have no taste
simple as
pointless barrier to entry.
of course you have to remove it and let idiots touch shit they're not meant to touch, brick they're own systems and then flood your facilities with retyrned obsolescences
if you can't read the keyboard controls onscreen and need a mouse cursor you might actually be moronic
peak BIOS UI coming through
These were max comfy.
>Anti virus in BIOS?
Huh?
MBR protection
Back then boot loader viruses reigned king
ahh ok
did it keep a backup of MBR or something?
Just a piece of software that detects a writing attempt to replace the boot code.
Bottom is literally a skin on top of above. The default UEFI UX from AMI is the top, and motherboard vendors add on their own skin for reasons. My Thinkstation literally has a toggle that allows you to turn off their UEFI skin, which is pretty austere to begin with.
This still kind of exists.
Bottom *screams* in chink
Godtier UI but it's missing a duck
Based and duckpilled
Top is all that was needed tbh. They just bloated it because they could when they moved to UEFI
Cartoons have fewer, bolder and more contrasting colors, therefore it's the old bios in your pic that looks more like a cartoon than the modern one
All you proved is the age old maxim that OP is a homosexual
>Cartoons have fewer, bolder and more contrasting colors
Your theory is dog shit.
So you're implying that a cartoon has a wider range of colors than an average painting or photograph? Are you sure you don't want to think about that a little bit more?
>Are you sure you don't want to think about that a little bit more?
>muh colors
it's about the extra kindergarten tier shapes and background, not colors you mongoloid
>Cartoons have fewer, bolder and more contrasting colors
so left is a cartoon while right is not a cartoon?
you dumb pseud get the frick outta here
Who is that elephant and where's Rabbit?
We gave them too many resources and they used them. UI is not disciplined and cannot be trusted, they need severe limits to avoid distracting themselves with unlimited possibilities. This is the only proven way to coerce men to produce great art rather than slop.
how does ur screenshot key work in bios
I have an Asrock board with that bios, I fricking love it.
It even has sounds!
For me it's asus.
I'm more surprised ASRock went from being a budget Asus product to being one of the most popular motherboard producers. I still remember their super cheesy web sites. Definitely no surprise they were at making cheesy bios as early as 15 years ago.
>>this is our modern day weak men make hard times
computers these days are made for gamers that have collectively decided that if a computer doesn't look like a christmas tree, it is not worth buying
i like the second one better honestly, those icons remind me of early 2000's software styling
the early days of UEFI still had the grey and shitty bios. the biggest innovation was being able to use the mouse in the bios. before you couldnt everything was keyboard only. so if your keyboard couldnt be detected in the bios, gg.
The first is pure function. Clearly readable. The second is a clusterfrick of colors and distractions. Zoomer design mentailty.
Late stage capitalism. It's the only way these manufacturers can differentiate themselves now.
you aint seen shit
what the frick they'll put ads in bios at this rate
The boot icon is literally just the Transmission icon kek
yeah I mean I think having graphics on UEFI systems is gay as shit but that space vibe is sick
>We need an icon for the "boot" option
>Why don't we just steal the Transmission BitTorrent client logo?
>And add some golden color to make it look more premium...
I wouldn't be surprised if the other icons were stolen as well. LMAO.
>Why do modern bioses look like cartoons compared to old ones? Also why do I need a mouse in bios? What went wrong?
Makes things more fun to play with for the TAO kiddies at NSA
>"You know what our notebook's BIOS interface needs? A duck."
wtf IBM?
That just screams white dev
actually bottom looks like some website from 2005 and that's just as comfy as the one above
>Why do modern bioses look like cartoons compared to old ones?
American Megatrends
The worst thing about these modern bioses is how laggy the UI is.
ASUS does Modern BIOSes right
agree every other modern bios is horrible
seems like they have not changed the design at all; my asus z97 motherboard looks the same
have a nice day troony
they had to justify uefi as a way to incorporate intelme's and trustzone plug and play drivers and radio spying capabilities so they made a toy bios skin that inspired morons in 2008 to update and start allowing uefi to update the spy package in their cpu
uefi bios are still slow and clunky, little to no work was done to any of the areas that needed a GUI like fan curves for most vendors
they simply shit out a GUI that made people think it was modern and good thing to update, another reason to open source bios
what the frick is the transmission logo doing there?
chinks steal IP, this shouldn't be news to you. If it is, go to aliexpress and see how many knock offs and stolen photos you can find. It'll be fun.
When normies started modding their machines.
Maybe modern BIOS is written in C, meanwhile the old BIOS is written in assembly.
"written" is a big word, these insects usually just copy example code verbatim and do the absolute minimal work on it needed to make it work for them
for an extremely basic, seldom-used utility, why not?
now they are required to be less lazy and design a simple GUI for better presentation, but they over do it for gaming laptops, many of us feel
soul.
i'll take interface with actual pictures instead of vectors any time.
the soulless OS crap we've been dealing with the past 2 decades because of lazy developers is depressing.
>vectors
that's text mode
>modern bios
>modern
>bios
kys zoomtard
>Also why do I need a mouse in bios?
because you are moronic
I can navigate my "modern" bios with the keyboard just fine.
have you tried reading?
>tfw stuck in evga hell
sad they dont really make mobo or vidya cards anymore maybe
they were always a meme with dark-as-my-soul esthetics
I've seen BIOS with GUI like Win 3.11 or 95 on some Compaq or DEC.
because one is a cookie cutter system and the other a custom install.
The lower one looks like who people imagined in the 90s the future would look like. In fact it looks like a fancy website from the late 90s.
>What went wrong?
computers became too popular.
Chinks thing overdesigned gamer aesthetics look cool and they're the ones making the UEFI.
"Both are ugly actually."
Yeah it's gay and what not, but what annoys me 1000 times more is the fact that no motherboard manufacturer names features what they are and make up random and moronic names for no fricking reason what so ever. Every time you pick up a new board it's a game of "well I wonder what moronic name they gave feature X this time"
>AMI BIOS
discarded, dogshit tier
when that more expensive motherboard cost really went into ui design and not better components
86box ftw
dem 90s feel and harddisks with CHS settings then Auto detect came and ruined everything
>YOU WILL LOW LEVEL FORMAT
>YOU WILL ENTER THESE DEFECTS
i like it
UEFI was a mistake
nowhere near as much as you
Normalgays being terrified of the menacing le "I will frick up something for sure omg" terminal aesthetic.
Also the increase in rom sizes making the fitting of a crude GUI-setup system possible, hell, some of them were tiny linux distros themselves.
Btw have the same ASRock UEFI screen myself as in picrel on a 10yo mobo.
"Gaming" ruined everything that's why.
Thinkpads still use the comfy old look
have to use TempleOS instead
>Also why do I need a mouse in bios?
It's useful when configuring fan curves.
To be fair, this has to be one of the most outrageous bios menu I seen, most are reasonable.
