Why do some christians get angry for the simple fact of questioning about their religion?

There were two instances in my life where i was talking with christians and they got mad for no apparent reason, but this most recent got me. I was always curious about topics like religion, God, spirit, etc, and I never said to a believer that he's wrong or anything.
Yesterday I was talking with this dude, I showed him some interest to know about it, and even mentioned some verses that resonated with me, he immediately interrupted me and said if I had any question, i'd go to a church and not make him unconfortable.

Any religious people can say "maybe he isn't confortable to share about his own belief" or "he must be a silent christian" idk, there's always an excuse. But still I think that was infantility and made me think how contradictory this behaviour was to the organized religion he said he follows (go to the church).

Personal unwillingness to talk about faith is fine. It isn't some lack of consistency in belief to say "This conversation is awkward I'm noping out."

this is true, but it strenghtens the feeling of scepticism in agnostics when every christian gets tense and defensive if you ask them anything about the faith that they supposedly deeply believe and shape their lives around
      that leads people to this

They dont like being challenged because on a subconscious, intuitive level, they know their beliefs are just as ridiculous as those of the Muslims and Hindus that they mock

line of thinking that simply becomes a matter of pattern recognition as you get told to "read the bible" or "go to church" for simply asking open minded questions (including when the christian invites the sceptic to do so initially)
when discussing theology or christian writings with people who do go farther than the aforementioned you encounter the same tense and defensive attitude once they realize you know what youre talking about and it simply did nothing to your scepticism. Aquinas is a good example here as ideas regarding the unmoved mover is held in high regard in spite of being the intellectual and well formulated version of mental gymnastics riddled with contradictions

Maybe not as harsh as this but a lot of people don't like being pushed on deeply held beliefs whether those are religious or not, sometimes they just know they will get defensive and stressed out and want to avoid that and other times the avoidance itself is their response. It's not an easy task to be introspective and skeptical about something you truly, deeply believe and affects things as broad as your sense of purpose and existence and morality.

It's really just basic human behavior and it's part of what makes this board so shit since religion has been folded into it, the impatient, anonymous, juvenile shitscreeching on this board is the absolute worst way to actually engage with other people and hope to learn from them or have them learn from you. Interactions you perceive as hostile or aggressive often trigger primal psychological defenses that just make you more entrenched in your beliefs, and the posters here always immediately switch into petulant Black person mode because they have no actual interest in conversation, it's just addiction to the righteous anger and imagined butthurt.

a decent reflection on the subject, however
      >It's not an easy task to be introspective and skeptical about something you truly, deeply believe and affects things as broad as your sense of purpose and existence and morality.
if the slightest bit of introspection of something that is supposed to be all of this to an individual is impossible suggests they are blindly following faith due to tradition, condtioning (often from the beginning of their life) or as seen on this board and IQfy in general some sort of belief it is the only way to redeem the cracks in western society (which in itself is a mechanistic approach not compatible with the theology abrahamic religion)
the idea that it is threatening also further suggests to the sceptic that the christian himself fears (or knows) that if he were to scrutinize his faith the way hed scrutinize any other religion or spiritual belief system, hed be forced to recognize it simply does not hold up
tl;dr faith is called faith for a reason

Consider that their faith has a built in belief that godlike entities exist that will make them doubt and critique and abandon their faith and that their very faith is their key to salvation from eternal damnation. For the people who believe this idle skepticism isn't just some hobby, it's a very serious and dangerous prospect. People ostracized and brutalized and killed people over this stuff for centuries and it was done out of sincere concern, even as ridiculous as it seems if you don't hold the same beliefs.

with that in mind you should consider the fact that christianity was mindfully (and skillfully) constructed to outcompete all other religions and unite peoples and cultures, considering the weak points zoroastrianism and greco roman paganism have in that regard (largely the absence of the one true god and room for religious tolerance and coexistence)
Or to be more precise, what you are describing is a mechanistic solution to the obvious knowledge the engineers of christian faith had that most people in some way throughout their life come to question the existence of god
i would add most christians nowadays are not as god-fearing in their approach to religion as the believer of the past, aswell as this line of thinking being faulty to converts, especially those from islam as their religion has a similar built in theological reason to not question itself
or to put it plain as plain can be, a religion that does not offer strong inherent reasons to not be questioned by its own believers will more often than not be supplanted by one that does

            >christianity was mindfully (and skillfully) constructed to outcompete all other religions
It's unable to outcompete actual monotheists. It can only prevail against 80 IQ statue worshippers.

      It's not per the NT.
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

        This
Some christians use their faith just to fill the gaps of their psychological issues, and forgot that being a follower of Christ is also to spread the word to earth.

There should be shitty people anywhere except in religious backgrounds. Imagine you go to heaven because you were a good person and he doesn't because he was a pathetic selfish. I'm trying to save people

They constantly field bad faith arguments from pop atheists who employ even less reason than they do.

      >its okay to sperg out the second someone asks a question about christianity or talks to a christian about religion without immediately converting beause uhh atheists are really bad mmkay
spergy christians are way more plentiful than fedoratippers on 4chins

But why don't you question the religions of others?

They probably just don't have a strong foundation for their beliefs so your questions expose some cognitive dissonance. I've had the same response from atheists when asking "where do you think the universe came from" or wiccans "why do you think tarot/astrology does anything"

Your stupid question is irrelevant to anyone not believing in your god, not limited to atheists unless you're a dumb perennialist, dumb tripgay

It could be anything. It could be nothing. Why didn't you just ask him why he wouldn't answer your questions?
All I'm gonna say is that people aren't perfect but that doesn't make them not Christian.

    >Why do some christians get angry for the simple fact of questioning about their religion?
That happens with any religion, and not just religion even. Every time you start pointing out inconsistencies in a person's world view, even if innocently and with the best of intentions, people are likely to become defensive, because you are casting that person into doubt and uncertainty, and that is an uncomfortable place to be in. You probably have acted the same way at some point in your life, as has everyone.

Of course the effect is more pronounced when the topic is a person's faith, since that's the metaphysical and moral standings of the person. When you throw those off balance you have to rethink how you understand and interact with the world.
