I have 8 gb of ram because I don't need more
homie my cellular telephone has 8GB of RAM
I should care because...?
The absolute state of mactoddlers.
I use a dell lattitude Black person
Have 64gig and that is pushing it sometimes for my cum simulations in Houdini.
Unreal Engine said i'd need 32 to Just Like Make Game but im not good enough to actually need to make use of it just yet. though it has proven useful for being a houdinichad like
because i felt like it
I'm smarter than you.
It about sending a message
i want to have sex with that fox
Same.
you better be white
I use ramdisk for compiling chrome and it requires something like 13GB of space so half of my ram is reserved for that
Because luckily I'm not a macgay so I don't have to make that choice.
16 on my i9 9900k desktop and 16 on my Thinkpad T540p with and i7 4710MQ, but would be nice to have more for my tab hoarding behaviour
I have 24 because I'm special.
breaking the norm chad
I have 16 and it is more than enough for me, coding doesn't need that much and gaming too, last game I played was Jedi: Fallen Order and worked perfect.
32 gigahomies are overkill except you are doing much 3d rendering or video editing.
I have 128gb 3200mhz ram in my laptop to just make it a non-issue. RAM isn't expensive, might as well load up.
My 2014 PC has in fact 16 GB DDR3 and my 2020 PC has 32 GB DDR4 merely because of the expected DDR5 generation gap and because I got it reasonably cheap.
It was given to me and it's nice for playing modded Minecraft.
That's the bare minimum for web browsing.
Who cares
Are you poor or something OP?
This. I have 48 GB and I live in a fricking shithole.
I keep a lot of programs open
because my browser likes to consume all my ram
My laptop has 2 gigs.
unironically I need 32gb (on 16gb rn) because my work has me doing ML shit with like four different browsers open at once.
I also like to have TF2 open all the time so I can pop into Uncletopia (ily Uncle Dane) randomly to get market gardens. I cannot do this because having TF2 open while working will sometimes crash my desktop due to lack of RAM.
Because compiling Chrome with 24 threads and caching the build output in ram takes up a LOT of space
Good sir, I sit here Infront of my computer and I must assure you that I only have 16gigabrites of ram instead of me sitting here with 32gigabrytes of ram.
Had 64gb didn't need it returned.
Had 32gb returned and sold it
16gb is enough for most stuff
Because just having everything I need for work open idle is already using close to 15GB of ram. That's without factoring in what the OS, web browsers, and other programs I like to have open need.
Because I can you dumb bawd.
2 reasons -
1. VMs
2. Just Cause 3
Are you moronic? RAM sticks are 512GB each nowadays
Wake the frick up
>hurr durrr but muh money!!1
What do you need all that money for?
compiling, LAS data processing, geotiff parsing, robotics simulations
also it's 64gb, not that pleb 32 shit
I have 32gb of ram because my 64-core assripper needs it.
128gb would actually be better, but I was stupid when I built this pc.
I do music production, compile software and keep a comical amount of tabs open. all of those (especially music plugins) consume a decent chunk of ram and I've hit the pagefile on 16 GB before.
I'm at 128GB ECC now because work let me take that much from the PC Closet
I dont I have 1 gig id ram you don't need more stop listening to chinks and technoisraelites you dont need more
My laptop is work provided
I have 16 but I'm too lazy to upgrade to 32, one day I will upgrade to 32 when 64 is the norm, such is life.
Because I want to frick that fox
I use 4 screens with an iGPU while virtualising, 32gb is about perfect. I fell for the 64gb meme earlier though and lost a lot of value for no good reason.
By the time I need 64gb I will want a new laptop for other reasons, especially I/O standard improvements and efficiency improvements. I want to use a large 8k monitor
32 GiB is bare minimum in 2022, you need 64 if you want to do anything with your pc other than ricing new Linux distros
I'm a jetbrains user
I'm still on 4 GiB
8gb is enough for most
stop wasting money on useless shit
based
can't even use my XPS 13 without lags whilst Chrome is open
8 GiBs never again
i have 30 active tabs in a browser, watching a 1440p video, and compiling libreoffice with all temporary files in a ramdisk
and i'm only using 6G
>8 GiBs
>ramdisk
what
I have 8-10 open tabs and I can feel the burn, the lag, the slowdown
what os and browser do you use? maybe that's why
i can do many tasks on 8gb
the only OS there is - Windows 10
and the only browser there is as well - Chrome
>anime poster
>moronic
checks out
Wow you're moronic 😀
I use Win7 and Opera and I'm running daily 60+ or 120+ tabs on just 4GB of 800mhz RAM.
You still need 64GB if you want to do serious shit like Blender and Maya.
128 GiB is bare minimum in 2022, you need 256 if you want to do anything with your pc other than ricing new Linux distros
I have 32 and I sometimes wish I had 128GB. Considering how poorly optimized shit is nowadays, I feel like 32GB isn't very future proof.
>3 1440p monitors
>video/audio recording
>audio passthrough on ASIO drivers
>monitoring software
32gb and it is barely cutting it. If the IMCs and the mobo topology implementation were not so bad in both intel and amd ddr4 platforms i would jump to 64gb in a heartbeat. Hopefully they ll get their shit together in the next 1-2 years(z690 is atrocious in driving even dual channel ddr5-disgusting latency even at loosely tuned "xmp" profiles) and x670 looks like a no go too(daisy chain and the notorius AMD imc problems, hopefully i am proven wrong on this one though). Cope more applehomosexuals.
Because I pretty much permanently run one or more VMs in the background.
Simple; my board supported that much so I was like what the hell. (DDR3). Guess I did good cause this was back in 2014 and as of today no HP/Dell/etc systems come with 32GB as the default config even though it's been uh 8 years. I used to use 4GB due to the windows xp limitation and board limit at the time. Then I upgraded the board and moved to windows 7. Busted that ram limit good and proper.
>run emulators
>have Firefox only write to ram
>sometimes I stream
>emulators take a lot of fricking ram
>use vms as well
