Spics can call themselves Americans, but they're not "Americans" in the sense of US citizens. The brown should feel a sense of awe, elation, and be brought near to tears when it sees the American flag and thinks of the US constitution. Any less is nothing more than a human cancer cell, economic invader

I am a EuroHispanic mutt whose ancestors came here in the 1900s, but I admire the anglos for creating the US. I know if my Italian-Irish-Polish ancestors tried to create something like the US, it would have collapsed into a shithole within a few decades.

Because they were the first independent country in the Americas and there was a gap of 23 years for any other country to become independent, and that country was a tiny fricking island full of Black folk. During that time, people just called the United States “America” and it stuck.

The only reason hispanics (and it is, in fact, only hispanics that do this) whine about America being referred to as America is because they are irrelevant. They believe that by playing at semantic word games, the rest of the world will subconsciously associate their poverty stricken shitholes with the relevance and prestige of the United States.

This isn't a matter of opinion or even bias against the Hispanic nations. Mexicans are the biggest offenders here. They deliberately feign ignorance of the fact that the full name of their nation is The United Mexican States. None of the countries south of the Rio Grande have America in their official name either.

Why doesn't Canada b***h about this? Because they aren't a poverty stricken shithole plagued with violence. They don't care about being seen as "Americans" because they live comfortably enough without the need to pad their embarrassment and pain with an attempt to ride the coattails of their neighbor.

This entire misunderstanding would have been avoided if the Founding Fathers had christened the new nation Columbia instead.

Canadian national identity revolves entirely around NOT being American.
They actually get annoyed if you mistake them for an American abroad.
