that's the problem with aac, when encoded properly, at >96 kbps it's just as good or nearly as good as opus
but there are 1000 different encoders out there and the commonly used ones are ass and default to 192 kbps or higher to compensate, vorbis/opus doesn't have this problem, the official encoder is already perfect and nobody has had the need to make another one from scratch
if only ffmpeg's aac encoder didn't perform worse than lame...
