I knew that OS X used to have sub-pixel AA, and while it wasn't as good as font rendering on Windows, it was still pretty decent, and I liked the way text looked on OS X. Then Cook ruined this too.
On that note, Linux will only have proper font rendering when its users are able to become women.
If you complain about fonts looking like shit, no not really.
Even Windows looks way better on HiDPI than 1080p. All this hinting, subpixel rendering etc. might make fonts look sharper and is definitely better than macOS just throwing away all this stuff for low DPI completely, but it's still not really *good*.
Going from 1080p for 4K for the desktop is really a game changer, unless you are stuck on Linux in which case where HiDPI is a mess because scaling is completely fricked. On Linux, you are always stuck in the past unless some people finally unfrick Linux on desktop. Unfortunately, seeing Wayland and how bad shit works, that's not gonna happen.

I use Windows. Text looks good. Muh indie games are perfect at 1080p even with my 10 year old GPU (though some of them would look better in 1440p (not in 4k)). When I want to use loonix, that will be SSHing into a VM anyway. Any more points to address?

The only reason Windows moved their buttons to the right side was because Apple sued them for copying Mac OS in the late 80s. Obviously the left side makes more sense but Microsoft couldn't use it because they're not an innovative company and all they do is take what Apple does first and then copy them.
This but unironically. After using a retina 27" iMac for 5 years now I can never go back to anything less than 200 ppi. I don't understand why the rest of the industry wants to stick with 4K at 27" when 5K looks so much better at that size.
