Why is hell an obstacle for people?

Why is hell an obstacle for people? It’s one of the only thing that brings me peace, that the Logos gets the last word and all in opposition to this plan are humiliated. This is the only peace there is if one is at all concerned with anything outside of one’s own small reality.

This might make more sense if your religion's salvation weren't faith based. As it stands, you believe billions of people will be tortured eternally because they didn't believe a carpenter turned rabbi in 1st century Judea is God based on anonymous writings.

This is not the Catholic position, which is merit based, the light of Christ shines on all, conscience obedience, etc. In Catholicism, the focus is on mercy.

The word Christ is Greek for Messiah
Messiah is Hebrew for Anointed One
Anointed One means a King of Israel who is anointed with holy oil. All kings in Israel were called Anointed Ones (Mashiach)

Saul was the first Messiah, David was a Messiah, Solomon was a Messiah. All Israelite Kings are called Messiah because they are anointed by the holy oil. Yet you hold the name Christ as if it was this holy name from heaven, powerful and divine. It is not even a name, it is title that you give to someone who was never actually anointed with holy oil or ever ruled over Israel.

You have replaced God with a man who you claim is the King that the Almighty God promised to the Israelites, and dont even remember an Almighty God, who was the one who made the promise, exists at all. You never talk about the actual God, ever, at all, for no reason. God is completely dismissed by you, you ignore him, dont give him the time of day, dont search for him, worship him or try learning his ways. This man you call Messiah is God to you. A Messiah that never was a Messiah and did not do single Messianic thing.

He overcame the evil inclination and provided a way for us to overcome it to through obedience to him as royal subjects, which only God can do (because God is not a man that He should lie), thus leading God’s people into God’s imperishable kingdom. What else is the king-messiah supposed to do?

Establish a kingdom in Israel that will never be destroyed. Bring all scattered Israelites back home. Wage war against the wicked nations and destroy them. Destroy all false religions. Fill the world with knowledge of the Holy Yahweh. Create everlasting peace on earth.

            That is what God promised.

            > Establish a kingdom in Israel that will never be destroyed
He did do that. This world is passing away, the only imperishable kingdom is on the other side of death.
            > Bring all scattered Israelites back home
Christ gathers His people unto Himself.
            > Wage war against the wicked nations and destroy them
That would be us, including the israeli nation. We would all be destroyed by that standard, but for this loophole called the New Covenant which is a fresh allegiance to the eternal king.
            > Destroy all false religions.
Did the historical resurrection not achieve this? Just a matter of percolation at this point.
            > Fill the world with knowledge of the Holy Yahweh.
Is Jesus on the cross being God not world famous?
            > Create everlasting peace on earth.
Is that the same or different as inspiring everyone to stop sinning with perfect efficacy?

Maybe because a not small number of people are consciously in rebellion to that Logos and would wish to have their cake and eat it. Beyond the range of their fantasies, however, there will be no free cake. And I agree, OP, God's final judgment will be yet another show of His glory, a wonderful vindication of goodness, that will come as a surprise to evildoers, and a crushing of evil, that will be a relief to the brokenhearted.
God is Good, and Good will prevail!

Christ saved some of his most violent criticism for hypocrites:
        >Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

It's not really about performance though. It's more a matter of the heart, read, for example, the Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican. But absolutely, many so-called Christians will be in for quite a surprise.

Granted, but why would atheists consistently achieve the same performance as Christians without really trying? Does the increased effort lead to zero increase in performance, or are Christians more wicked to begin with and need the extra effort to be on par with atheists?

Too many unknowns. But spiritual sin such as pride does seem much more serious than run-of-mill vice, and more dangerous too in that it isn't so apparent to one.

Complete change for many will not at all be an overnight event, but as long as the Christian is fighting a particular vice, he has not lost to it. Again, it really comes down to something only God can really know: a person's heart.
