Why are you even asking anon?

Because its not consistent enough to warrant it to be on.
Its still a nightmare when you DO want it to rotate, when wanting to use landscape view instead of candybar view.

More like why would you ever fricking turn it on? Use the little button that pops up to rotate when you need it.

ANON HOW DID I NEVER KNOW ABOUT THIS
I turn autorotate off, I turn it to the side, a fourth softkey appears with a rotate icon. Wow, just wow.

    >his phone doesn't give him a rotate orientation button.
Also the real reason is because when it rotates, it basically redraws the whole activity which can be buggy or slow.

    >hold phone vertically
    >screen rotates sideways for no reason
    >turn phone horizontally so you can read it
    >screen rotates back to vertical

Phone speaker is only on one side, so watching content with the phone horizontally is virtually unbearable for me, watching videos is the only time I would use my phone horizontally anyway

    >Why would you disable auto-rotate?
makes no difference. some software completely ignores the system setting and does whatever the frick it wants.

Because its a shit feature, if I turn my phone and I want it to rotate I can press the little bottom corner icon when it shows up.

It was okay back then because only a few things even used it but after android honeycomb everything supported it so now every turns. Also gyros are inaccurate these days, you can't even calibrate it in most phones now, no animation for the screen rotation either.

because it keeps triggering when you don't want to.. literally have the fricker in a slight angle and it thinks that you want to rotate the screen
