The vast majority of Windows 11 users either run on OEM single use license or cracked version. Microsoft earns jackshit.
Most of their money for actually selling the damn OS itself comes from selling LTSC Enterprise license which is ad-free.

Well this is helpful. A lot of these "features" run in the background. They can be trimmed via services.msc, Powershell scripts (or command line in many cases), registry edits, editing batch files etc etc. There are plenty of tweaks on Majorgeeks, and there's that "winutil" (not to be confused with "WinUtils") .exe that costs $10 - or you can just use the git to get them piecemeal.
Keep in mind that some items are so hard baked in to W11 that turning them off is nearly impossible. Same goes for Office. If you want to curb the latter then make sure you buy the Office LTSC versions and save locally, then upload them to your own online storage (or NAS) as you see fit.

The 2020s are unironically the decade of the Linux desktop. By the end of this decade, Linux will reach at least 10% of the desktop market share, maybe more.

Everything is finally ready for Linux to achieve widespread adoption. Distros like Linux Mint now just work out of the box, gaming is better than ever thanks to Valve, and you can now use Linux without ever needing to touch the terminal. Not to mention widespread dissatisfaction amongst normies over Windows 11.

I suspect it is simply the natural destination for power users, as both Windows and MacOS degrade into unbearable territory.
Governments and other public organizations increasingly moving workstations to Linux for sovereignty or cost-saving reasons does likely also weight there.

I doubt that will ever happen, though I do expect it to establish a firmer niche (assuming the Wayland psyop doesn't kill it).

We desperately need an NPC friendly OS that is free as in freedom. The normies need an alternative if we are to be free from the Microshit/Apple oligarchy.

        >But such an OS would also need to become the standard. So that most (pretty much most) software, including games, is made for it.
One of the biggest issues with Linux and FOSS is designers. In the sense they're rarely involved and get overpowered by programmers in the tug of war, meaning they disengage and leave projects. Part of the problem is these programmers have specific and niche needs, the understand systems and they understand software - so they become very focused on what they think is important. Problem is, most people want to be able to use something that is intuitive and approachable. Windows isn't really either of those things - most of the design is grandfathered in. The design paradigms kind of suck (standard boxes and tiles format, weird file name exceptions, obtuse and obscure).

You might be surprised how many users are willing to go to lengths to understand something. That understanding has to align with their existing skills and experience to a degree. It's why recommending arcane Linux distributions is absurd: most users don't have deep technical skills - they specialise in other things - which is how skills tend to work in general. You become an expert in a narrow field and develop general skills that gap fill needs. I wouldn't expect someone to be an expert in how governance works and the concepts behind institutions, or familiar with discursive deconstruction, or object/subject formation in governance (governmentalities). Expecting someone to have deep technological or field-specific knowledge because you yourself possess that knowledge doesn't make you smarter - it makes you a terrible communicator who cannot relate to the needs and specialisations of others.

You use it every day. Most people do. That doesn't make it "intuitive". It makes it align with your experience, which in turn makes it look sensible. To you it is, to many others it isn't.
