The icons are soul, but everything else, well, it was the best we had at the time.

Aero can be and imho SHOULD ALWAYS BE disabled through control panel. The stuff eats up your cpu and gpu intensely.

disabling aero improved performance, too, though I imagine that might have been a non-issue by 2nd and 3rd Intel Core generations.

Vista was peak frutiger experience. 7 was visually inferior in every possible way to vista. but it did run better though so i'll give it that.
There were a lot of good vista and longhorn themes for 7, the stock theme is kind of lame but the custom ones made up for it.
