8 cores is probably the absolute minimum for Windows 11, anything less and you're gonna really feel it running those 1000 processes in the background (the current antivirus you truly can't turn off is especially heavy). It's gonna have to be super, ultra light to work on old office hardware.

1) Open the GUI shell thing
2) click on the "network" button
3) double click your computer
4) enter your credentials
5) drag and drop your files.
You can also use the CLI if you're not moronic and prefer things that work more often than not.

There was no need to crossover cable. It already understood that regular ethernet cable carries data just fine even in symmetric setup
