Windows will now notify you of a security risk if you try to type your login password into Notepad. You don't even have to save the txt file.
Is there an equivalent level of proactive security protection for Linux users?

Sorta like how IQfy will censor the email you use for Pass if you're logged in?

That means it always has your password in memory. How secure is that
It's running a rolling hash on your keyboard inputs. It couldn't even check against your plaintext password regardless because the OS doesn't store it.
wouldn't it be part of the application itself? Rabin-Karp search seems expansive to pull off on every key stroke also figuring out delete/focus seems a pain in the ass so its part of the text widget. I wonder if the cpu% spikes in the new notepad version I always thought string search is expansive.
This has always been the case. Watch, I will type my bank login password: hunter2
See, you can not see it. The password is replaced by asterisks.
Why does it knows my password?
Btw this is not "proactive security protection" this is called moron handling, and if you are moronic you should not be near a computer whatsoever.
I don't see any reason why a moron shouldn't have the freedom to use a computer or why there should be any external pressures or policies to that effect
We can't make it illegal, yes, but technology is made for them, so if you frickup you should be the only one to blame, even if you are moronic. Hence why, responsibility wise, they shouldn't use technology
>Why does Windows know my Windows password
Yup https://engrish.com/
It never specified it was the user login, anyways I forgot windows now is tied to your Microsoft account
Windows shouldn't allow users to do anything if Microsoft really cared about security. It should be like TV.
It's probably checking for the N word too.
i don't care if windows stops them from putting their password in notepad. what it should stop them from typing is my password
>windows is watching what you type
>likely sending it back to ms servers
>"safe"
>"secure"
Hey, frick you Windows I will make my file called Passwords.xls and put my passwords in there (actually it's just one password which I use everywhere) and then I will email it to any new employee that joins the company.
grim
So basically notepad (and probably a lot of other stuff like Office if they're really committed to this idea) checks every single word you type into it to see if it matches the password hash? Yeah, that's going to frick with your performance.
Windows 7
>DANGER KEYLOGGER DETECTED
Windows 11
>We were logging all your keystrokes and we found you typed your password in!
>app
Modern windows applications are indeed, apps, as they can run on x64, x86 and arm
