The Dunkirk area was protected by white French troops (most of which ended up captured soon after the evacuation).
African Tirailleurs mainly fought in the Paris area (notably Rambouillet), and mainly in late june, in the later stages of the battle of France.

They got captured en masse alongside a million white French soldiers.
Btw some were killed by the German but the vast majority ended in POW camps and got liberated by US forces in 1944.

The guys who got killed during the 1944 Thiaroye mutiny were no saviors nor liberators.
They were guys who had surrendered in 1940 and spent the entirely war in some German camp in France.
In 1944 they got liberated by Americans and repatriated to Senegal, and then they proceeded to ape out because the newly formed French authority didn't pay them fast enough their well earned wage for surrendering in 1940.
So did a million white french like you said in this thread, but of course you don't blame them. The truth is you have no idea what situation those Senegalese were in when they raised their hands up to surrender and they were betrayed by the same despicable french they fought for.
