When you find out a woman is an avid reader is it a red flag? Or do you have to investigate what she’s actually been reading? What I’m asking is…is a woman that’s an avid reader generally have certain negative social traits and attitudes? Tia

Every action of a woman is means to attention. This is the only maxim of relevance.

This is opposite to what I experienced. Women I’ve known bury themselves in books as a way to cope and do not want to be bothered. They want the opposite of attention.

They don't want YOUR attention, except insofar as telling simps to frick off inflates their ego.

A woman being into reading is only a cause for concern when she is that one woman out of a hundred or thousand who reads real literature and does it seriously.

Women who read dumb pulpy shit are just normal women. Women who read real literature and aren't just the basic b***h goodreads reviewer kind of reader are usually defective emotionally and sexually and try to compensate for it intellectually. They almost always look four out of ten too, and far worse than that, have really bad attitudes.

this guy went to grad school, alright

I object to the myth of the autistic bookish woman. She does not exist, if she ever did. All the women at grad school are happy giggling bawds who can't seem to get over the sheer elation of getting to prolong being in high school indefinitely. Women in college are basically just unemployed irresponsible girls having lunch with friends every day and getting railed in the shitter every night. They do not love their subject, at most they will engage with it lazily to assert some identity on twitter in order to feel good or to be part of a certain social set.

For a woman to buck against this utter paradise for the female brain, she'd have to be truly anomalous. Expecting a woman at grad school today to actually study and suffer for her (ostensibly) chosen subject is like expecting a 13 year old boy given an unlimited harem of 10/10 women and infinite no-consequence risk-free methamphetamines and video games to "better himself" and "balance his hedonism with supererogation." It ain't gonna happen.

I see no contradiction here. Nobody claimed genuine interest, but merely a way of compensating poor performance in women's milieu. The amount of ugly female phd students in my stem department was astonishing. You could find a chad here and there among the males; it was skewed but definitely not one-sided. The women, however, that was a whole another beast. All either fat, ugly, or c**ty. No exceptions.

Maybe in STEM, I'll grant you that. I like Asian STEM PhDs because they are often asexual. However it is still about 75/25. The most asexual, apparently Brontean/Dickinsonian woman these days will always reveal after a while that she has been self-medicating her neuroses with regular Tinder sex for 5+ years, and feels as much shame about this as you feel for jerking off occasionally.

It's very nice. There's nothing like an autistic Chinese woman who is distant enough from her own culture that she isn't a thoughtless face-saving monkey, but distant enough from her white host culture that she maintains her instinctive Chinese arrogance and doesn't lyse and attain complete equilibrium with her surroundings, becoming merely a "twinkie" rich Californian Asian girl. Autistic Hong Kong and Taiwanese girls who are distant from their still predominately Chinese parents are usually your best bet. Their parents represent the home country, acting as a constant and omnipresent reminder of their estrangement from it. Thus they maintain the tension between their distant Chineseness and the equally distant gay white society. Often they will look at the rich Californian Asians and think "No matter what, at the very least, I can't become like that." In this state of adriftness between two worlds, they are forced to look inward and cultivate interiority. They essentially become honorary autistic men.

When you talk to them you can really sense that the waters of her mind are placid and stable in a way that women's minds never are. It's like taking a canoe out on a calm lake at dawn. She chooses what to show you of her depths, what to reflect, what to take into herself or reject. There are islands of stability, points of reference in her consciousness she can choose to take you to or not. Most women by comparison are like a shallow, muddy pond, with its sediments constantly stirred up by some moronic African children mucking about in it. You can almost see it behind a normal woman's eyes when you're talking to her, they aren't themselves in the same way you are, they are "subject" to themselves, two-tiered, always waiting for directives from the unaccountable Cartesian theater upstairs. Sometimes a voice comes from the balcony and says "We like this guy! No, we don't like him! We want chocolate! No, no... Wine! Wine and chocolate! CRY!! CRY NOW!!" This is what is really going on when you talk to a woman and she has that sort of notoriously female gormless & nonplussed hybrid expression on her face. If you look closely you can see her eyes micro-darting back and forth. This is her trying to maintain focus on both you and the voice at the balcony shouting down to her how she is supposed to feel, like a game of Simon Says and Twister rolled into one.

Talking to an autistic Chinese STEM girl is wonderful. She's a woman who is somehow also not a child, a living paradox. You get the sense that she has stable points in her consciousness, she's capable of thinking deductively and balancing contrary principles instead of just obeying the latest one she "saw" in her mind's eye. When you confront her with a logical dilemma she is capable of positively male levels of navigation between the Schylla and Charydbis of its terms, instead of merely careening between them and ramming into them and sputtering and babbling like a typical woman.

Most YA is just popcorn, but there are at least a few good stories. (Of course, at least with Japanese YA what happens is one story comes along that actually has something meaningful to say and then a hundred other writers do superficial imitations that miss the point of what made it good; I'm less current with western YA to know what the trends in it are.)

Have you ever tried using non-IQfy boards? They are only a few points above a person with literal Down syndrome. They can't follow basic arguments, they get upset if they have to read more than a sentence or two, they don't know anything about history or culture. They are proudly moronic. IQfy insulates us from the reality of the rest of IQfy. We are a tiny bubble of normalcy beneath a vast ocean of subhumanity.

        Anonymous

Honestly, I'm not sure most people on IQfy are much better, but insofar as there's anyone intelligent here they're probably disproportionately likely to be on this board. I'm not sure how that's supposed to be a rebuttal to what I said though, unless you're suggesting that IQfy not only doesn't read but actually does it even less than other boards.

          Anonymous

He's saying that no one on other boards are capable of reading at all; most of them are barely literate, or underage ESLs, who can't read a sentence as long or complex as this one, and I'm not exactly flexing vocabulary or the maze of subordinate clauses that makes them go on the defensive or ignore the post entirely. The average litpost reads like a brief, 30 page introduction in a romantic novel to them. It's bad. I won't sing the praises of IQfy, but most anons are capable of engaging with how reasonably intelligent individuals structure and present ideas, and often respond in kind with some shred of intellectual honestly and good faith.

Even the shitters that don't read seem able to grasp some esper of meaning from anons that do, which ain't great but it's something. The faster, more literate boards with good threads are probably the same anons.

I think anon is saying your original point filters about 90% of the population, and 60% of the population with a tropical IQ. Things are that dire.

Yah, no I don’t want high verbal iq. I kinda hate language and the way it controls people. I was corrected recently in a text for typing “payed” instead of “paid”. I was typing fast and didn’t reread what I wrote before sending it. Being corrected and the implication that I should be embarrassed honestly enraged me. Do you know what I meant when I typed “payed”?! Caring about verbal iq has to be a trait of people with mid iq larping as intellectuals. Language controls and restricts how we form thoughts. You can’t have high verbal iq truly be a free thinker or highly intelligent imo. It’s a social game, it’s pompous. The purpose is to communicate I can do that well enough with typos and slang.

Not really. The only thing I can think of is they are very defensive of what they read and like. If they like a book and you challenge their interpretation of it or question its quality they will pout and get mad and brand you as an butthole
Very few are actually confrontational enough to fight you over it and defend their view. So approach any subject with extreme care or just be a yes man to everything they say
You may think women will like someone who is strong-willed, but that does not apply to literary opinions

most the people I've ever seen read are women.
I've only ever had two conversations with other men about reading, one was a guy buying my used copy of roadside picnic, the other was an elderly man complaining about how complicated phones are and I compared it to a franz kafka novel which got a chuckle out of him.
I wish more men read, if anything women reading is normalised and not a red flag at all.
