people are cheap and won't buy them. the trash you linked would be lousy but it can be done very nicely. the main issue is that the case of a computer is replaced whenever the computer is so materials design is less valued in an inherently ephemeral product.
It appears there was such a laptop but it was strictly limited edition. It seems like building your own might be easier and even cheaper than buying a manufactured one. People make those stupid cyberdecks all the time. Why not a tasteful wooden computer? Perhaps the internal frame could be metal like a classic Thinkpad, and the wooden parts merely panels that attach to it.
If you made it yourself and gave yourself a bit of room, you could even leave enough space to upgrade the guts later.
These look gorgeous, except the 16/9 screen while there was room for a 3/2 instead, maybe even a 4/3.
In this example it appears to be an actual Thinkpad that was just modified to fit into a different case. That would actually be a great way to go about it.
It's lovely except for the missed opportunity to use a classic Thinkpad keyboard.

Because wood can't be made as precisely as plastic and metal. Wood is a natural product with defects, it is not homogenous like plastic and metal. Wood is also not tough enough to be made as thin as plastic and metal in modern laptops, so it'd have to be thicker and thus heavier.
It would be hand fitted. And you could get away with attaching the wood to a skeleton frame. You could even include grommets to act as shock absorbers for the wooden panels.
This is about where my mind went. Wire frame, rubber shock absorber pieces to secure the internal parts, but I think bamboo would work better for the shell. As a diy, if you disassembled a thin form laptop, you could probably get away with using bamboo cutting boards by planing them down and routing a hollow inside and ports. So long as you have the tools, the biggest pains would be fitting the keyboard and maybe making tiny filler pieces for the sides and filling the top of the base around the keyboard.

To be frank, first Apple was sold as literally just bare internals. Everything else user was expected to provide themselves, it was semi-DIY PC.

I did. It's a rare book that usually sells for thousands of dollars. You can touch and smell each individual piece of wood.

No, you can buy it. Make me an offer. I don't really work in wood. I just collect rare books and sometimes I buy books I know about, but which don't personally interest me. Just to trade off later and boost my core collection.
