Though the characteristics were deliberate I didn't really understand where Dazai was going with it. I finished the book and felt like I missed something. It was eloquently written that I didn't hate reading it but the end left me blue balled.
I got this book recommended to me as something that was extremely dark and would change my life. Instead I got a boring novel about a sad prick. I couldn't even finish it. Maybe it resonates with people because everyone's a depressed loser nowadays? Glad it's getting hate.
