quite seriously, Robert DeNiro and Brian DiPalma made "Hi, Mom!" (originally titled "Blue Manhatten") which is honestly one of the best satires against fake lefty-liberal fake race pleaser types, society then and today.

I hear about this film so often that I think nobody understood it, including the actors.

"be black, baby" - look it up, if that doesn't tell you it was a satirical take those college campus whites..

      What is a work spouse?

        Anonymous

A coworker of the opposite sex (if you're straight; same-sex if you're not) that you share a bond with, because you've been working together for a while, you get along well in and outside of work, you work well together, and you've confided some things in one another. It can get to the point where you both can sense when the other is having trouble with work and just default to trying to make each other's lives easier. You know you have one if at company meetings or parties you both stick close by.

    >...We neither discover an objective reality nor invent a subjective reality, but that there is a process of reciprocal evocation, the world 'calling forth' something in me that in turn 'calls forth' something in the world. That is true of perceptual qualities, not just of values. If there is no 'real' mountain, for example, separate from the one created by the hopes, aspirations, reverence or greed of those who approach it, it is equally true that its greenness, or greyness, or stoniness lies not in the mountain or in my mind, but comes from between us, called forth from each and equally dependent on both; as music arises from neither the piano nor the pianist's hands, the sculpture neither from hand nor stone, but from their coming together. And then the hands are part of the lived body - or, put more conventionally, are the vehicle of the mind, which is in turn the product of all the other minds that have interacted with it, from Beethoven and Michelangelo down to every encounter of our daily lives. We are transmitters, not originators.

From "The Master and his Emissary" by Ian McGilchrist. A.K.A. the definitive book about the Balkanization of the mind.

Just prior to the pandemic I had gone through a really shitty couple of years. I had done all I could to rebuild my life. I was doing good. I was social anand active again. I was progressing with my life to a definitive point.
And then everything shut down and I qas forced back into isolation. I dropped out of colleged to work. I did actually stay busy and made good money in the time. But I regressed so much in interpersonal points of my life and a very pivotal moment in my development was arrested. And now two years on, I'm yet again retrying to be social and going back into academics to finish my degree. I feel so far behind in every way I could be.
I'm just so angry and bitter about it all. Opportunity was taken from me and now I have to be stunted. The only possible solace available to me is that so many others experienced the same arrested development, but in engagement with others it feels like I'm the only one behind. I desperately want to grab hold of that late adolescence again but it seems gone for good.

I'm not talking about female narcissists

IQfy is actually quite comfy these days

It can be, certainly more than IQfy

Have you noticed a correlation between use of informal fallacies and their disorder?

My view on fallacies in general in regards to logic is their conception as a moral fact actually is an obstruction towards true knowledge and justified belief, hence no one should be called out for "appeal to authority" or "appeal to ignorance" if alternative deductions can be taken from using methods that defy formal logic. Its not a very popular opinion but its one I stand by.

Look into covert narcissism too. It's a very bad disorder, and the best cure is belief in God because it reliably diverts attention from self outwards.

The two can be quite disconnected, as God may have put someone on earth for a very specific task

You need to have been there to understand the development and growth of the IQfy meme lore

You need to start meditating on the fact that you could be dead tomorrow. Try to induce a state of perpetual semi-panic in your nervous system to relieve you of the dullness. The problem with this method is it's like winding up a toy that can't be unwound without proper knowhow and effort (meditation).

I asked facebook but they didn't give me a compelling answer...
I want to write a non-fiction book, but I don't know anything that I'm interested in that people would read.
I really like the way Marvin Minsky structured The Society of Mind, it is virtually a collection of stand-alone essays each pertaining to one function or theory concerning how the mind works. This means that while the essays are arranged in a logical and linear format, it does allow a non-linear read which is very much in line with the subject matter.
I really want to write a book like that, polishing these almost self-contained essays as an exercise in writing. I don't care if it makes me money or not, but I don't want to do it unless I can find a topic which can both sustain fragmentary musings but also find an audience.
I tried writing about Intention and Agency in this manner with essay titles like "intention and values" and "intention and silent comedy". I considered writing one based around "Questions", in that there are ways of asking better questions for problem solving, but also the peculiar way that sometimes people embed commands or instructions in a question. Like when your girlfriend asks you "do you like this?" half way through a movie, which is your cue to stop it because she's not enjoying it.

I just feel like I have these things I want for myself in order to make life worth it or something but I also feel like they can’t be realized for me and so I just get down and feel like I’m stuck in this disappointment. I’m in right now. I want to feel like hard work will get me somewhere worth being but I actually don’t.

The certainty that life cannot be long, and the probability that it will be much shorter than nature allows, ought to awaken every man to the active prosecution of whatever he is desirous to perform. It is true that no diligence can ascertain success; death may intercept the swiftest career; but he who is cut off in the execution of an honest undertaking has at least the honour of falling in his rank, and has fought the battle, though he missed the victory.

s m h, frickboy. Finding and fricking is not want anybody has ever been talking about with this ever. It's an inversion of reality; anybody can find someone to have sex with, what's far more difficult is finding somebody that you can do more than just have sex with.

Any even slight mention of this is met with the same response online and offline and everyones shamed into not talking about it.

      lol wtf is this homosexualry..
      >Mad at human intuition and our arbitrary longing for beauty
dude, women today are eagerly having sex with the equivalent of wild animals. There is no such thing as this.

Nobody is mad at anybody but your specific genotype and brain pattern, who disrupts this subject wherever you're found, by reducing the topic to the level of a 9 yr old and shaming people into actually discussing anything and advancing mentally and socially beyond age 9.

      western whitoid homosexual.

      1) make money in other ways; anything you produce for moneys sake is worthless, except for money. but you will hate yourself more if you do this.
      2) no examples of this in history anywhere; all ideas come from the head of one person on their own.
3 and 4 contradict each other
      5) you were never able to outsmart these dumb animals and figure out how their minds worked? damn. with me it's like i just don't care to bother anymore.
      6 contradicts 4 and 3
      7) most people i know complaint the most about having and suffering having these two things to the point of tears and violence.
      8) if i were you i'd start a sex dungeon and kidnap the people you dislike and torture them. it's fun seeing a proud alpha boy emasculated, and it's the cherry on top when his screaming girlfriend is watching you.

      >Although I do wish sometimes to feel more normie..
      overrated.

more than likely, like everybody not on drugs, your brain and body can't take the childlike sanitized society you're forced to tolerate, and that begins with other people who are very stupid so being around them less is really the answer, which you already have anyway so..

sounds like you're doing fine. you just had prepackaged notions in your head before i changed your mind in point 1 of the above; you're supposed to have money and then do this in your free time with money, not make money 'from' your free time. it would be nice but it's grossly unrealistic.

well if you know anything about art you'll already be aware that throwaway paintings and first editions of titles that nobody would've paid a penny for at the time are worth millions nowadays.

brah, you're literally complaining that you're an uninspired "artist" who has no talent and can't make any money as an artist.

you have had no response to anything except to pretend, for some reason, that i am 'english second language' - umm.. i'm not, i think that's obvious to anybody actually fluent in english, if you cannot read or comprehend what's being written to you here then you're a quasi-illiterate dog brain, as i suggested earlier.

i don't understand how someone with your mentality isn't making money on youtube. did you land a big contact to smile over pizza on video and you fricked it all up by typing 'Black person' on twitter?

btw, the reason you can't produce anythign creative is because you're a low enegy depressive-case.

i can write 20 books in 2 or 3 years because my brain works, you little fricking runt. you can't even draw a picture because you're a fricking moron.

when you become like me - and think like i think and talk like i talk - then you'll be able to do things with no effort. but you've set yourself against people like me, deciding to not take our advise and pretend we're 'ESL' - this is how far behind you are in your own stated goals.

and you can't even read in your own fricking native language. you haven't even gotten to this yet. reading 'this' is effort for you, you can;t actually read these few lines in 5 seconds, process it entirely and fully and fathom clear responses.

why do you think you're an 'artist' exactly? just curious. you don't seem to have anything particularly interesting to say or do that could be somehow something substantial to another person.

come on pussyboy, try and formulate a sentence this time.

Hahah, you're the "ideas guys" but also hideously wrong. Lennon-McCartney. Page-Plant. Stock-Aitken-Waterman. Most Operas had a separate composer and Librettist. You saying Mozart's Operas aren't art? The oral traditions of the Greek Epics. The later interpolations and "corrections" of Homer by the Hellenistic Grammarians. Literally every film or classical animation ever made, even those so called made, including collaborations of well renowned Auteurs like Walt Disney (who never drew a single frame), Antonioni-Guerra, Kubrick adapted his films from source novels, Fassbinder too. Frankenstein came out of that famous group exercise/challenge.
You said there is "no examples of this in history anywhere". I've given dozens off the top of my head. You have no idea what the frick you're talking about. But also you're naively glorifying "ideas", as if the only thing that matters is the premise or the overarching idea. No. Execution involves hundreds of tiny ideas and all throughout history there are many examples of collaboration and individual artists contributing their own ideas and touches as part of the execution

I've noticed there was some commotion outside and ambulances passing. Just now I read the news and a bit further from where I live a guy ran his car into a tram station, totally wrecked the construction of the marquee, and sent three people to the hospital. Supposedly he felt ill and it made him lose control. Funny how it didn't made him slow down a moment before.
How fragile life is. You could be peacefully minding your own business and all it takes is some speeding butthole having a bad day for you to possibly have no more days at all.

Been alternating between listening to Wagner and Rachmaninoff, both expressions of the highest forms of Russian and German culture and both of these cultures have produced some of the best artists, scientists, musicians and intellectuals the world has ever seen. Why did they have to go to war with each other? Russia had a big German population. Imagine all the geniuses wo died in the war or that would have been born if it wasnt for their parents dying in the eastern front.

going through a difficult time i just wanted to share my favorite poem of all time

You whose hands are more innocent than mine
and who is as wise as nonchalance
and who removes slow shadows of doubts
    from his face
    like the spring wind removes
shadows of clouds floating over the hill.

If your hug gives courage to the heart
and your thighs stop the pain,
    if your name gives peace
to his thoughts, and your throat
    a shade to his berth
and the night of your voice, an orchard
    still untouched by storms.

    Then stay beside him
and be more devoted than anyone else
    who loved him before you.

    Fear the echo approaching
    the innocent love nests.

And be gentle with his dream
    bellow the invisible mountain
at the edge of the soughing sea.

Walk around his coast. Be seen
    by sorrowful dolphins.
Wander around his woods. Kind lizards
    wont do you any harm.
And the thirsty snakes that I tamed
    will be humble before you.
May the birds that I kept warm sing to you
in the nights of sharp frost.
May the boy that I protected from
    stalkers on a deserted road
    caress you
May the flowers that I watered with my tears
    bring fragrance to you.

I didn’t witness the best years
    of his manhood. His fertility
I haven’t received in my bosom
    ravaged by looks
    from cattle drivers at fairs
    and from greedy thieves.

    I will never take care
of his children. And the stories
that I’ve prepared for them long ago
    I might tell, crying,
    to little miserable bears
    abandoned in black forest.

You whose hands are more innocent than mine
    be gentle with his dream
    that remained harmless.
    But let me see him
    his face when strange years
start to come down on it.
And tell me sometimes a thing or two about him
so that I don’t have to ask strangers
who find me silly, and neighbors
    who pity my patience.

You whose hands are more innocent than mine,
    stay beside his pillow
and be gentle with his dream

How do I make worthwhile friends/meet new people?
Everything in my life is going well, except for my social life; I have absolutely zero friends or acquaintances. The only social interactions I encounter are with my relatives and two Bulgarian brothers that go to my gym.
My problem lies more with meeting people and less with being an awkward sperg; I've always been very sociable and charming- I used to be a part of a fairly large social circle, but I've separated myself from them due to them being "bad company"(Drug use, partying, lowlife)
The most common options for meeting people are unfortunately unavailable for me; I can't meet people through my school since I do everything from home; I can't meet people through my job since everyone there is middle-aged (I just turned 18)
I have a lot of hobbies, mainly reading and writing, but none of which offer me the option of meeting people.
For the past few months, I've ritualistically almost daily gone walking throughout my city, hastily in search of any social interactions, bookstores, thrift shops, libraries, parks- you name it, but nothing seems to suffice my need for friendship.
I don't know how much longer I can do this; It feels like I'm drowning in loneliness- like there's a barrier- blocking me from forming any genuine human connections. What should I do?

      Anonymous

Hang out with those Bulgarian brothers. Or those middle-aged people from work, boomers can be cool too.

      >I've ritualistically almost daily gone walking throughout my city, hastily in search of any social interactions
      >bookstores, thrift shops, libraries, parks
You aren't going to make friends in these places, just speaking from experience. Most of the time, people either go to parks with their friends or seeking a semblance of solitude. And for the other three, people go to those places with a goal in mind, either to buy something or check out a book, use the internet, whatever. Join a club if you want friends who you don't meet through partying. Or if you play an instrument going to jams or open mics is a good way to meet people.

People haven't had disposable income, not debt based i mean, since the early 2000's. This normie trope you feel alienated from doesn't exist; they're all dead anon. They're all dead. What you see are mentally ill people on drugs, in serious debt. The images you see on screens of happy people are just actors. Look into the eyes of the wide-smiling youtuber and see the terror in his eyes. Look at the actors on the commercials, getting in and out of the bath tub. It's not real.

      >to become a writer
this is exactly the problem; this kind of thing isn't supposed to be "who you are", you're supposed to do that as a side-hobby - any literature educated person ought be able to write in my opinion, and the pedestaling of basic skills is one of the more grotesque aspects of a poor society

That said, who the frick actually reads books anyway? If you find someone holding a copy of Tolstoy, refer to half the comments in this thread, and you'll find its some poseur trying to attract a Womans attention.

So what, I just take you at your word that you've written 20 books in 2 years and they aren't absolute dogshit? And that this means your "brain works?" Post links or at least an excerpt or shut the frick up

So what, I just take you at your word that you've written 20 books in 2 years and they aren't absolute dogshit? And that this means your "brain works?" Post links or at least an excerpt or shut the frick up

frick no. I grew up trolling people on the internet exactly like this, i'm not giving you a foot in the door to bother me. Go make a zoom video or prank phone call or something where you can see and hear the persons reaction instead of pretending that they're 'seething' or 'crazy' when they refute you over text.

          this bit:
          > (do something) where you can see and hear the persons reaction instead of pretending that they're 'seething' or 'crazy' when they refute you over text.
          this part is key.

When you're pretending other people are 'crazy schizo esl autistic' you gradually come to believe it; it's at this point where the brain actually splits into schizophrenia because you create a fiction in place of reality, and you reinforce it to yourself.

it's a slippery slope from there, friend, because by DSM def. you're engaging 'in' schizophrenia each time you do this and are gradually strengthening those neural pathways to the point that actual DSM def. schizophrenia will become more and more normal for you; dementia is not far behind.

          >posts cliched manly image to reinforce own senses self of being a 'normie' resenting 'trolling'
          pretty extreme double-down iyam

            I mean here:

If you, hypothetically here, wonder how reddit confirmation biases and self-affirmation biases; echo chambers of set rigid mutually enforced behavioral types, come into being - this is the process,

            1) to project purposefully deflective delusions onto other people; i.e. you call me a gay because you disagree with something else i said and you can't argue it properly,
            2) this becomes habit
            3) this gradually compartmentalizes the brain and the social areas of the brain into set patterns of deflection and self-preservation, consisting of asocial attack in text-form of strangers,
            4) this becomes a habit which locks those areas into loop protocols,
            5) the social self has inculcated a disconnection from reality; a dehumanized view of normal 'uninfected' persons, for parsing their opinions and words through those filters,
            6) schizophrenia, in the technical sense, has occurred and the self has introduced a mechanism of autonomous reinforcement of the disorder, making it very difficult to break.

          >good trolling doesn't call attention to itself
my point is that it's actually delusional; if you're doing something IRL you can see the reaction and it's funny, but when you're doing it over text you're only 'imagining' a reaction which you're making up in your own mind; this is the difference between the 'text-troll' and .. idk almost any other form of reaction because there is no reaction.

I'm talking about watching chris chan beat his breasts on video, lauging at that, compared to spending, idk how long you've done this personally, maybe 15 yrs of your life posting wojak memes instead of talking to anybody and developing your own brain to an adult level.

          > good trolling doesn't call attention to itself
sounds like you've been at this longer this 15 yrs to have adopted an air of professionalism about it.

Indeed, in the twentieth century, when there was a great desire to fight against boredom, to escape from routine and the ordinariness of life, a virtual world was a real new intriguing discovery, not only for the masses but even for many artists and intellectuals. The escapism of cheap entertainment and pop culture offered ability to dream of different possibilities beyond the mundane, to become engrossed in a story during a time of nihilistic ennui and listlessness among youth seeking to escape the confines and restrains of conservative Western society during a time of great economic growth. However, this has eventually created conditions where the physical material world was neglected in favor of escaping into this virtual world of entertainment, technology, and so on

The only way I've found that works for me is to get to a point where I truly feel like I've learned something.
If I can take away some valuable lesson from my past mistakes, I finally feel ready to forgive myself and move on.
Of course if you never apply that lesson it's a hollow gesture, but if you can you'll truly become a better person for it.
      Worth a shot at least.

What books do females read? Have you ever met a female that reads?

My mother and sister both read a lot, but not with any clear pattern I've been able to find.
I try lots of books and discard most of them after one page or less. They seem to finish nearly every book they start. So they spend less time looking for books but much more time reading books they don't feel strongly about.
My sister's favorite book is The Lord of the Rings and my mother's is A Christmas Carol.

I'm trying to remember a quote from a book I saw posted here once in a thread about favorite quotes from books. I think it was by Dostoevsky, and it was some kind of monologue about how despite the awful ugliness and filth of the world, there would surely be some moment of pure beauty and goodness at the end of time which would make all that came before worth it, or even make it seem that it was good for such ugliness to exist so as to cause this moment to seem all the purer. I've dug through the archives a couple times but can't find it.

Well I'm back from the art gallery. It was nice. Dont regret going. Saw some cool stuff. Had a good laugh because they hung a modern portrait of a Black person up with a bunch of victorian era portraits. Wish I got a pic of it, it was so absurd.
No gf was acquired unfortunately. Theres a few botanical gardens Ill explore in the area in the coming week.
I think my best bet for finding a gf will he when the summer semester starts ina couple weeks.

Who started to spread the idea that happiness is the final end goal of our existence? Western society is solely focused on progressivism, humanism and "sentimentalism" as Guenon called it in East and West. Is art, literature, philosophy created by the pursuit of happiness? Corporations have used this idea as their core idea for their marketing campaigns, socially engineering society to believe that consuming a certain product or brand will make you happy.

I think my Japanophile/weeb phase is officially over. I spent 5+ years learning Japanese, but at this point I wouldn't mind just forgetting it. I could go on a long rant about why it's so disappointing but probably no one cares.

You remember that opening scene to Trainspotting?

Japan is a society where it feels like everyone has fully embraced this idea. The level of social conformity expected of people is just insane, even when the actual things you're meant to do are moronic. Society's expectations dominate every aspect of life there, but the fricked up part is that it's not just limited to companies (having a mustache is forbidden in 90% of companies btw) but your hobbies too. For every hobby in Japan, there is a "correct" way of doing it and other people will pressure you into this. So, take train otaku for example. Did you know that train otaku have a very specific way of taking train photographs you're supposed to follow, so that it produces an identical looking photo every time? This is real and it applies to frick tons of hobbies. Someone on IQfy went on a long rant about this in the Japan generals a few weeks ago, you can dig it up in the archive if you want. This isn't just a one-off kinda thing, it's how their society is built from the ground up. Free expression and individuality are a no-go unless you do it in the exact way everyone tells you to.

Okay, but what else? Well, there's the concept of faces. This ties into honor culture which exists around most of Asia, I'm sure you've heard of it. Tourists in Thailand get murdered all the time because they made some local lose face. But it works a bit differently in Japan. Instead of that aggressive face-saving culture, it's more of a society-approved mental barrier that separates people on every level a bit like Confucianism. This is why people have such a positive initial impression of Japan that wears off on many people once you start living there - it's the difference between honne 本音 (what you feel) versus tatemae 建前 (what you show others). Japan has made this a societal institution, you're supposed to lie to people's faces a lot (often out of politeness), and in my opinion this is pretty shit.

Japanese people LOVE to go on about their 治安 (public safety) and their 民度 (population quality), but what they don't understand is that there's trade-offs. Europe has managed to achieve a very similar level of safety and education as Japan without any of the awful cultural baggage, the NPC-tier thinking, the terrible work culture, and so on. But japs don't understand this. They don't understand that it's a good thing when people around you aren't 100% predictable sometimes, when everything in life isn't slotted into a neat and tidy little bin and there's a bit of randomness. This isn't an argument against racial homogeneity for you /misc/gays reading this, I think that's fine, I mean I object to their entire philosophical way of life. It's boring. It sucks the wonder out of life.

Also, did you know cheating on your spouse is extremely common in Japan? And you're supposed to overlook it.

Japanese art is also very rarely deep. Everything is really cool on a surface-level, but there's nothing below it to explore. You can see this in RPGs for example: Japanese RPGs for example are filled with lots of spectacle but the gameplay is kinda shit. WRPGs meanwhile may have lackluster gameplay but the writing is genuinely interesting and leaves you with something to think about. But it also applies to music. Japanese music is extremely focused on melody above all else: Not just touhou, but frick tons of music really. How often do you hear some good Japanese music, and it's good for a reason OTHER than melody? It's not common. Maybe Boredoms, Fushitsusha, that whole scene is pretty great, I will admit. But they were counter-culture, shit's not common. Anime? Well, studios like KyoAni are always upping the style but that's it.

Japan could never produce a show like the Sopranos, they could never produce a crime and Punishment, because they just don't have it in them. Their conception of art is different. And as I get older, I prefer Western art more and more, because it understands how interesting life is and explores it. I still love woodblock prints/ukiyo-e though, they are beautiful

I'll post more when I think of it. There's a lot really. Like tying into what I wrote above, Japanese people tend to ghost you a lot because of that concept of faces and not being honest to people. I hate it

Is it because you've watched and read everything of worth and realized that the translations are already sufficient?

Translations are definitely sufficient, yeah. But I've mostly lost interest in that shit anyway.

Finally took the trip to tokio huh? I told you anon

I would have if I could have

Is it because you still don't have a cute nippon gf after all these efforts?

I got involved with a Japanese girl for a bit, but that's another story

I saw a guy get his brains blown out last week, and I just can't get it off my mind. Eventually, I had to walk over there and say "hey, you can't be doing that in Port Authority, get a room."

I just seriously can't understand people like that, man. People get so riled up about this sex thing. I don't know much about it - I've never had it. You see, I'm a Christian, so I choose not to have sex - I think it'll make the sex with Christ that much better.

People always ask me, "Anon, how do you do deadpan humor like that, I can't tell a joke without laughing." And it's really a tough balancing act, because I always wanna laugh to. So I try to balance out the laughing by thinking about all the worst things anybody's ever said about me until I'm thinking about killing myself, and that keeps my face nice and flat when I tell these hilarious jokes. But it's a tough balancing act, you see, because the second I imagine throwing myself off a bridge - you see? you see? It makes me laugh. The second you actually imagine throwing yourself off a bridge, it's like, "woah ho ho! uh oh! hey hey!" and I can't help but laugh. Deadpan humor's hard like that - it's like jerking off, and throwing yourself off a bridge, that's cumming. Once you cum, you laugh, and the fun's over. The goal is to keep yourself on edge. I make a good dominatrix.

Anyways, that's my time, but if you'd like more time, I'm in room A13, and it's $150/hr - yeah, that's right, $150/hr, you didn't expect that level of self-respect from this guy, did you?
Being serious for a second, this is just a reminder that if you genuinely struggle with suicidal thoughts, to seek help and/or call a hotline. I've had two friends OD this year, and it sucks. I shitpost bits about my self-loathing to sublimate, not to dwell in it, and I genuinely hope you're all managing alright.

Hang in there - life is long, something will happen if you just hold on, for real.

Of course, that's not true if you're agoraphobic or something - that's some serious shit you have to work to overcome, otherwise it's only going to be an uphill battle. But if it's just "deadend, no friends" stuff or other things, if you hold out long enough odds are good you'll eventually find the will to make some sort of peace, whatever that looks like.

Anything in particular got you down?
