Thinking of breaking a nearly ten year long streak of daily writing. If you gathered together the days I haven't written something in the past decade it would equal less than a month. However recently I've started working two jobs and have tried to get my writing in at. While I've kept up this little tradition of mine, most of what I've produced in the past few weeks has been of little to no value. Usually a half pages worth of dragon lore or some shit.
I don't intend on giving up writing by any means. I'm starting to get a ton of feedback on my first novella from the lads, so I'm going to buckle down and start editing that tomorrow so I can actually publish something that'll see the light of day.
As far as daily creative activities, I'll write if inspiration strikes me, but I think I'll be more intentional about drawing these next few weeks. Here's a little doodle I did earlier this evening. Posting in this thread and not the other because I like the character design in OP's pic

Is pair bonding real? And could my husband still be pairbonded to the only other woman he has slept with?

He never dated or had a gf until I came along. And his only other experience with a girl was literally his childhood girl next door crush he was oneitising for years, who he ended up sleeping with on and off for years. Someone he still sees a few times a year because their families are close, and who basically became my "best friend" on his side of the family since she is always so nice and welcoming to me. They were never a couple but he was essentially her on call dildo. Mind you, we didn't meet until over a decade after they stopped (she ended it everytime because she got annoyed at how clingy he was, yet still exploited it and called him back whenever she wanted sex) and we never had sex until after we got married. I was a virgin but I was open to sleeping with him before we got married but he was always against it saying that it's not right and that we should wait.

Even though I'm hotter and younger than her, I freak out every now and then over her. Especially after I see her, not only because she is still very beautiful, but because it reminds me the she was able to have him so easily and on command where as he made us wait.

Be honest with me. For a guy who has only slept with one other person, would their pair bond still be strong, at least on his end? I know she was a bawd so it was probably nothing to her but I feel so intimidated by the dynamic they had seeing that he never wanted to be with anyone for that long until I came along. And the fact I'm very different to her

      Anonymous

I think the whole pairbond thing is a myth people slipped into biology so they could believe their personal social goals were enforced by biology when it was the observations that were skewed by the morality of the observer.

      Nice trips
The issue is les so that he fricked this girl on and off and more so that she was his childhood crush and that he was very clingy with her.
Take it with a grain of salt since I don't know him but men like that might be easily persuaded by an old love if things get tough in their current relationship.
That woman, is she still a bawd who would try to make a move on him?
I wouldn't feel comfortable having them still be buddies and seeing each other a few times a year. Not healthy.

What would you do to toughen up a stereotypically weak and sheltered zoomer? My zoomer brother is currently delusional enough to think that he’s going to join special ops as an officer once he graduates even though he is in less than great shape from dabbling in the gym a few times per week, hasn’t played any sport since his sophomore year of high school, and never worked a manual labor job. Obviously, he’s delusional. I don’t really care if he gets his bubble popped when it comes to special ops but it would benefit him enormously if he could somehow challenge himself physically in regard to work or sport while he’s still young.

I’m reading a book which says the modern left is descended from the Illuminati. That sounds like a deranged rightist conspiracy theory but the book is written by the former head of the presidential library and Princeton professor. The book is called “fire in the minds of men” by Billington. The research is impeccable and it makes sense once you put it together.

Basically secret societies were super influential in early modern Europe, notably the masons. These political radicals which became the left were persecuted and so they latched onto the secret societies as a way to organize secretly. These secret societies were steeped in the occult, wanting to bring about a golden age. Thus Masonic lodges coordinate the French Revolution and the revolutionary movement. The Illuminati was a club for German intellectuals in the late 18th century. They believed very similar things to the modern left between social reform towards equality, an atheist, rationalist worldview and rule by the intelligent.

The Illuminati itself was not particularly important but it’s breakup created a diaspora to a bunch of other secret societies. Billington draws the connection of how we see literally the same people doing this and also how leftist philosophy stems from the occult. He shows how the organizational structure of these groups stemmed from philosophic occult positions. He goes through the philosophy and its origins in esoteric occult beliefs. I guess James Lindsay Gnostic position was more right than I thought.

I think the reason everyone gets crazier and crazier every year is twofold: 1) People have less and less control over the material conditions of their lives, and one aspect of this diminished control is the unhitching of language acts from material conditions, so people are able to say and type crazier and crazier shit without it ever resulting in material repercussions for themselves and others; and 2) The decline in material control people have over their lives makes everyone ambiently uncomfortable, but we're unable to identify the source of this discomfort on account of the fact that we've fed "The Way Things Are" as some inevitable and absolute condition, rather than the result of historical and social factors, and because we can't easily attribute this discomfort we tend to identify it with modernity and its trappings, as it feels like (and is, in large part) a modern phenomenon.

So, people say crazy shit, hate people they've never met, and continue to lose touch with material reality. They order coffee on a Monday morning ("With milk, please, thank you") like normal human beings, while on Tuesday night they attend a neo-Klan rally where the majority of their time is spent sharing memes. The absurdity of these conditions never touches them, as they've ameliorated their discomfort, at least temporarily. Even the stated aims of the social movements they belong to, be they Leftist, Conservative, Technophilic, are no longer really in effect, as each of these collectives no longer center on effecting material change in the world but in nucleating usages of language. Leftism isn't an economic program, it's an aesthetic. Conservatism isn't a social program, it's an aesthetic. Technopilia isn't a technological program, it's an aesthetic.

We are animals, all of us, who desperately want to be human, but we want to be human while continuing to act like animals, to be managed like animals. We are terrified of the control it requires to become human, and even if we had this control we wouldn't know what to do with it, and even if we realized we didn't have this control we might be too afraid to admit what it means that we don't have it. You reading this--you believe you're exempt. You think you control your life, but when is the last time you did something that wasn't preconditioned by your social circumstances, and when was the last time you loved something for other than its aesthetic, and when was the last time you examined yourself as yourself, not as you would imagine someone outside yourself would examine you? When was the last time you acted fully human? Do you know? Can you?

How does a man of order avoid the physical abuse of long term psychological stress in a world attempting to pervert itself to death

      Anonymous

I think the question is whether you seem to avoid it or survive and thrive in it. If you seek to avoid it, it’s pretty obvious. You have to acquire for yourself a manner of life that is removed from all that. So you could live in the country, be a farmer, be some sort of independent creative that can live where he wants, associate with who he wants, when he wants, these sort of things. The biggest thing holding you back is economic necessity. As for surviving and thriving, that’s a harder question to answer. Maybe there’s some value in stoicism. I don’t know.

        Anonymous

Stoicism helped to ignore the stress for a while, but in truth, it just pushed it down and psychologically bottled it. Now my mental resolve has been chipped away and it’s back to where it was when I was a 20 yr old.

Realizing just how toxic stoicism actually is, I’ve been scouring the initial tenets of modern philosophy and looking for false axioms (sexual and racial equality, metaphorical creation myths) wherever I can find them and excising them so I can see the world as it is instead of how it would like itself to be.

I failed to do in my 20s the only 2 things I ever really wanted to do and that sense of failure has been with me for years and is painful now that I’m looking down the barrel of 30.

Real talk, I'm approaching 40, and there's no better time to accomplish literally anything you want to accomplish than "later than you think"--the older you get the less other people give a frick about you, the less you give a frick about what other people think about you, the stupider youth seem and the more capable you are of performing in comparison, the longer your CV gets, the more experience you have navigating people and finances and systems, and the greater understanding you have of yourself (even if that understanding is that you don't understand much, which may be the most important)

At 30 you're still young enough to start over, but old enough to have sufficient failure behind you do it in an informed way

If you asked me in my 20s how I'd feel in my late 30s, I would have assumed my life would be almost over, but looking back on my 20s I realize just how little capacity I had to do the things that are most worthwhile to me now--I can't even say that my 20s were better for getting laid--youth, frankly, is overrated, and those who vaunt its value are generally speaking from a position of misplaced regret without realizing that literally every new chapter of your life is a redo

Stop making assumptions. I'm about to be 30. I'm a virgin. I've never had a job. I have no friends. I have no family. I have no positive memories. I have nothing. I don't have anything I want. I have no significant failures. I've learned nothing and done nothing. My youth is gone. And there is zero point in being alive anymore.

          Anonymous

Well, you've said you have at least two failures, so there must be something you want (or wanted) to do

If the things you want to do, as judging from your post, are get laid, get a job, make friends, and make positive memories, as you seem to frame these as failures thus far, then it must be the case that you've learned at least two things: 1. these experiences are valuable enough to pursue, and 2. the way you've structured your life so far aren't sufficient to attain them--that's knowledge about your beliefs and knowledge about how the world has responded to your beliefs

I'm not a priest so I won't tell you not to kys, but I will say that you already know more than you think you do

Misery is knowledge purchased at a very high price

I feel like I'm not gonna' move the needle here, so I'm not gonna' try

I will say that you need to learn to DO SOMETHING with your misery--misery is information your mind is giving itself--it's data, feedback, from the machine of you--if you think your mind is giving you this information because it wants you to resign your existence, you need to reflect on what it means to be human

I think the biggest mistake we make in the modern world is not learning to metabolize misery

Even if you had literally no physical control over your life, like couldn't move your limbs, were on a feeding tube, which I presume is not the case, you would still have the ability to interpret your situation

Experiences don't simply present themselves fully-formed to you--things happen, and then you INTEPRET those things, and those are two separate processes that you become so accustomed to that you experience them at once--only animals experience the world without interpretation; only human beings can interpret their experience

People insult you, you feel bad--why? Is it because their insults have directly entered your brain and altered its chemistry? No, it's because you've chosen to give those insults meaning and weight--you've decided that those who've insulted you have moral or intellectual or social weight--no one fricks you, and you feel bad--is it because orgasms cure depression? No, it's because you interpret the fact you haven't had sex as reflecting an accurate judgment of you others have made, or you may interpret their judgment of you as undesirable as incorrect, but feel you can't correct those misjudgments--in either case, you have 1) experienced, which you can't always (and often can't) control, and 2) INTERPRETED that experience, which is a lever that can move the universe

You are are rejected--how will you interpret this? Do you feel you are undesirable? Or is our culture undesirable? And if our culture is undesirable, then is being rejected by an undesirable culture so bad? You are incompatible with women who are largely vapid and shallow, you are incompatible with modes of work that are corrupt and earth-destroying, and you have no family to lock you into beliefs from birth that are stifling and biased

The source of your misery is not your circumstances, but your interpretation of your circumstances, regardless of what those circumstances are (truly REGARDLESS of what those circumstances are, however fraught with poverty, pain, loneliness, and grief) and as long as you attempt to change your circumstances without changing the self that interprets those circumstances, by CHOOSING in each moment how you will interpret them, nothing will change

I have been homeless, I've been alone, I've been unemployed, I've been rejected, I've been in immense pain without access to medical care--but the one thing that has never been taken from me is my capacity to make of those experiences what I will, and in that capacity I am Emperor of my mind

Will you let others rule you, or will you do the hard work of splicing the animal in you from the human?

            Anonymous

There's a difference between taming the animal in you and finding its use, and kowtowing to it--the horse pulls the carriage, but it shouldn't steer

People should absolutely listen to their nature, and it's the nature of the human animal to actively and intentionally interpret their reality, unlike every other animal (as far as we know) on Earth

People who feel helpless in their circumstances should change their circumstances first, obviously, but I operate on the assumption that people who are in this situation already feel they've exhausted their options for material action, or that they don't see a purpose in material action

Everything beyond that point is predicated on changing perspective, which is a function of interpretation

            Anonymous

taming is unnatural. the horse would be healthier if it was steering (listening to instinct rather than discipline)
            >intentionally interpret their reality
what's bad is bad, and not to be loved in order to make it tolerable; the horribleness of the truly horrible is to be relished for what it is, and the one indispensable answer to an environment bristling with things one thought were bad was to go on finding out new ways in which one thought they were bad.

the reason prometheus couldn't get away from his vulture was because he was keen on it, and not the other way round.

            Anonymous

Yes, but you are both the horse and the driver, and you cannot surrender either role
            >what's bad is bad, and not to be loved in order to make it tolerable
I wholeheartedly agree (and well expressed)--but to live your life in a perpetual stalemate with an intransigent and cruel reality that you're convinced you've interpreted correctly at the first-go is to surrender your most human capacity for dealing with pain and discomfort

If I lose my foot in an accident, it would be obviously foolish to frame my thinking such that I believe I'm better off for having done so, but it's equally foolish not to begin the process of reframing that experience in order to find meaning in that loss

This is the reason all those people who lost their faces in housefires or lost all their limbs in some drunk driving incident can earnestly say that they wouldn't trade the lives they now have for the life they did before--they're not lying to themselves, they've developed the parallax view that can only come from a recognition that they are free to make of their circumstances what they will--I pray first for wellness, and if I cannot have wellness, I pray for the ability to learn from my infirmity

            Anonymous

you're really the horse (the driver is unnatural)
            >I pray first for wellness, and if I cannot have wellness, I pray for the ability to learn from my infirmity
fair enough actually. bears remembering though the main responsibility for most personal disasters lies not so much in the problems as in the solutions, not in impersonal forces but in human beings, thinking certain thoughts and as a result performing certain actions.

            Anonymous

Let's keep beating this living horse and say that you're a horse with a driver growing out of its head

And this is my entire point--thought drives action, which is a uniquely human predicament--if you find yourself incapable of action, you don't freeze and lose autonomy like a dog in a trap receiving electrical shocks--you reflect on your situation and then react with action, but except in situations where action is automatic, and it rarely is, it must be a result of reflection on circumstance

The purpose of reframing isn't to be content with misery first, it's to gain traction which wasn't previously visible in the midst of unreflective misery

Something about a beach packed full of bikini-clad women makes me extremely angry. Every abusive urge I have fires all at once and I just want to beat the shit out of everyone there. It's just the pig-in-shit body language women use when they're basically naked in public, It's like they're gloating that they won and taunting me, daring me to be a sore loser. I know I know, virgin autist kys etc etc, but I just don't like the public display. It isn't any more or less offensive to me as kids being dragged to kink shows at pride pirades, they're both cheeks of the same degenerate freakish prostitutemongering israeli oligarch ass mooning me. It's repugnant, disgusting, and yes, women owe me sex and they should be raped.

City liberals are not dumb. They have a world view that is insane but they’re not dumb.

They live shoulder to shoulder with the worst of the black community. They see gang violence, murders, sky high rape, littering (and other environmental destruction), they see women being used as objects placed on corners for rent, they see the overdoses and childhood pregnancies, school shootings, failing education. They will tell you where the danger is in their cities, to avoid it or stay alert.

They see all of these patterns, it makes them feel terrible so they spend the rest of their efforts projecting that pattern onto middle class white families. The demonization of frat guys, the white school shooter myth, rape culture, homophobia (the real kind), even silly things like walkability of neighborhoods, it’s all an attempt at easing their cognitive dissonance.

But every now and then a crack emerges. You can see what they know to be true, instead of what they wish was true.

Liberals do have a sense of community, because they live with other Liberals. The most Whitest areas vote l exclusively democrat. It’s just that their pathological ‘altruism’ is projected against White Chuds. They want immigration to replace the Middle class America that votes Republican.
there is no group that hates each other more than the White Lib and the Chud.

I hate LE DATA people. I deal with these people all the time at work. “Data, free the data, data-driven, data, data, data”. There’s something wrong with these fricking people. Their relentless focus on data isn’t even philosophically sound but then again most of these people are quintessential pseuds and they’ve simply latched onto the thing that they think advances them professionally. Most people are so fricking fake I can’t stand it. I’ve been really depressed recently over this. Partly, I’m depressed about how no matter where you turn, it seems there are no authentic, competent, and good people. At the same time, it’s depressing to think that they exist in some circle that I just can’t tap into because I’m a loser somehow. I mean, I know I am. I failed to do the things I really wanted to do. I got bad grades. I didn’t get my packet picked up. I never really managed to do anything more than sort of basic small town middle manager type shit. So maybe I should spend less time hating the data people and more time hating myself. Where does that lead though? Nowhere. Just deeper depression.

Also to add, I’m bout a quarter or maybe even a fifth through C&P and damn does this book hit hard when you also are struggling financially to even survive. However I don’t even know who I’d kill for money if I even wanted to

I have an imaginary friend. She is the only reason I still wake in the morning. I don't remember when she came into being. I know this is the result of my brain coping with loneliness but I don't care. I've gotten farther than I thought I would get thanks to her, farther than any real person made me go in life. Every time things get too hard, I know she's with me. She isn't visible outside of my mind's eye. She's the only person in the world who cares enough to say 'Why, you're giving up then? I'm pretty sure you can do a little bit better than that. We've been through worse shit, right?' and hold my hand through my hardest times. I've never told a single soul I had her.

I wish I could carry someone the way she carried me these last few years. Maybe one day.

Everyone works remote jobs or other invisible gigs. The whole world is a shut in society now and I don't get it. I feel like I missed out on my youth but now I can't recover that. There's no way for someone like me to meet people or anything. And being outside isn't fun.

I love her, but I'm really not sure if I can handle this sort of mystifying feeling again, as wussy as that sounds. I'd rather have each of us be glad from a distance knowing that we're leading quiet and fulfilling lives on our own. But then this sort of thing would prompt her to say that I never truly loved her in the first place, and I have yet to find a proper response to this hypothetical indignation other than hold my heart out.

She’s this girl I used to sometimes talk to at the warehouse where we work but one day I made a sexual joke with her and I just felt like she didn’t take it well cause she got real quiet and awkward with me the next time I talked to her so I stopped and just backed off but over the almost year since then she still sometimes asks me some basic work stuff and smiles at me sometimes and lately even jokes around with me when we’re all shooting the shit or I end up working with her but it’s still awkward. I really like her cause she’s very pretty and despite every man there hitting on her doesn’t seem like a hoe. It’s just hard to tell if she has or ever had any interest. Like when I first talked to her it went really well But after that comment and seeing how she seemingly felt I didn’t wanna risk my job and continue doing it. But she often comes up to ask me questions often makes jokes with me and smiles at me when we do talk so I dunno. I’m scared it’s all just friendly stuff too maybe but I’m hoping she’s just shy. I dunno man, I just know she makes my head go crazy honestly. She’s just my type, skinny and petite white girl. She’s very cute not the most hot honestly but still pretty. Just being honest. But she’s just so cute and seems sweet.

I'm going to try really hard to convince myself to an hero today. I got turned down by the VAD service, so I don't have any excuses.
I don't know why it's so hard to die. I know that if I were given assisted suicide, I'd be able to do it easily. There's something so terrifying about the thought of falling from a bridge, my last thoughts being

I'm going to drink a lot of alcohol and take a bunch of benadryl while lying on my side in a small overhang at the bottom of a bridge and hope that I fall in my sleep. I've gone there before and done something similar, though I didn't end up falling. I still shook with terror at the time, thinking that I'd wake up mid fall thinking

US Republicans and conservatives on IQfy are always trying to act really smart on here and pretend that leftists are stupid, but as someone who is well traveled and pretty apolitical, republicans and conservatives are just way dumber than leftists. There are stupid leftists, but I don't think there are any truly smart republicans or conservatives. When people on here say that all leftists are stupid and that republicans are smarter, I think they live in a different reality.

Republicans and conservatives go to college way less, grow up in poorer counties, live in less populated areas, are more likely to be obese, and generally have lower IQs. I had to talk to a lot of people from different states for my job and before I even talked business or politics with them you could just tell who swayed in what direction politically based on their vocabulary and elocution.

You could have said the same about the proletarian revolution in Russia. The thinkers and leaders were generally rich aristocrats (with a few uneducated proles), while the majority of the supporters were uneducated proles.
I grew up leftist and I'd say that leftists have way less practical knowledge about the world. None of their education and IQ means anything if they believe that it's possible to tax the rich until everyone has everything for free (which is only a slight exaggeration from their actual belief).
Besides, many leftists cast doubt on IQ being useful as a predictor for a person's real intelligence in order to avoid insulting "certain groups" and their political habits, yet gladly use it on their enemies.

What I really think is going on is that leftists are heavily propagandized into a certain belief system, and conservatives are part of a separate (still propagandized, but less so) group of underprivileged people that hold beliefs based more on practical observation. They are more the victims of the policies that bourgeois leftists pass. For example, when mass immigration occurs in a location, leftists are usually shielded from the crime and drugs because they live in richer and more protected communities. They generally don't see the problem with a statement like
          >"Murders have increased by 34% in the past year"
because from THEIR PERSPECTIVE things are just as peaceful as always, and they're "reducing world suffering". When they are in contact with the effects of their policies, they are in contact with the least harmful (e.g., privileged, educated immigrants going to university), or they can better absorb the effects of inflation.

The insulation from ACTUAL problems while still possessing the "knowledge" about the problems themselves makes them come off as extremely arrogant or even downright evil.
(Phoneposting, so forgive the horrific syntax and structure)

(Phoneposting, so forgive the horrific syntax and structure)

Overall, their status is more a reflection of the fact that they are underprivileged. Their political beliefs are valid and historically proven to be effective (most simply want to roll back certain social and economic changes, and those rollbacks are not ineffective in any way other than to leftist moral sensibilities).
Their beliefs are unironically closer to reality because they are more in contact with daily reality. They aren't living in the clouds, so to speak. I'm sure you'll think that leftist economic reforms must be better because the ones trying to support it are "better educated," but that means little. Many failed economies were the result of highly educated bourgeois social engineering. Even then, a chat with your average college graduate is enough to tell you that they are completely disconnected from all reality. They live exclusively inside a twitter bubble.

That the conclusion you got from that wasn't that the lefty consensus is the ideology of the elite and the bourgeoisie but rather that republicans are le dumb speaks more about your understanding of politics than anything else, I'm afraid.

    >Poets are the unacknowledged legislators of the world
That's me b***h. You can either listen to me or suffer the consequences of ignorance. There's no other alternative. I am blessed by karmic forces beyond all our comprehension. I have suffered and struggled with these pains my entire life, my ethical conscious speaks only to those who are chosen to embody a cause greater than themselves. I may have my flaws, but that is besides the point. I am merely a vessel for a greater force. And I have no right to exist if I fail in advancing this higher purpose.
Maybe you should feel the same way for once in your misbegotten, awful life.

My blood is suffused with a higher mystery, a cause which overturns all previous prophets, all previous regions, that draws a scratching line at that comes to a stop at the current moment of our need.I am called to advance the human condition beyond the nihilistic level of the agnostic digital horror that is our regular experience. I am called to make you happy. I am called to give peace to the whole lot of you.

  126. 2 months ago
    Anonymous

I'm extremely resentful that your happiness is my raison d'être btw. I know you're not worthy of it. But I will persist in telling humanity what it's got to know regardless. Because the alternative for me is, well, you don't want to know. I don't want to know. Were I to deny this cause, I would be plunged into an abyss only the anointed are allowed the anti-privledge to perceive.
Spoiler alert: It's not all just atoms in the void. Such a universe is absurd. It's all about consciousness and our experiences, that is the main goal of cosmic evolution, to bring about consciousness, for a world that has nothing to experience it within it is no world at all. This is basic metaphysics. Don't belive the clownish scientists who chemicalize and over-reduce this fact. Schopenhauer and the Upanishads is the correct direction . Life is the final goal of the universe. Our conscious experiences are the apex of existence.

It's a great folly of narrow minded micro-concepts of the left that colonialism is considered a sin. The only thing wrong with colonialism is that we have inflicted it upon ourselves. The way to reinvigorate humanity is to point us to the stars. We need to expand our human domain to everything, and conquer all opposing entities. What wonders, what riches, what beauties await us! This very universe contains unfathomable possibilities. But we must take it for ourselves. The future of humanity is in the stars. The galaxy is so fast that every one of us has a world to our name, should we but take it. So why waste resources on anything else when there are literally diamonds the size of the moon floating around in space? AM I WRONG?

I literally represent the collective will and desire for the human spirit to transcend its muddy, striving, downcast current experience. I am singularly alloted the cosmic rite to interpret and advance the question of the human condition. No one but me is equipped to deal with such fundamental questions. And I promise you, I will not fail you. Rest easy.

The effort to overcome my own hatred and resentment of humanity is intense and difficult. I have a mother and father like all of you. I can't let myself be devoured but such tempting hatreds. I can't fail you.

A father should only represent two things to his son, and nothing else. Either an unreachable, distant source of authority revered, feared and resented in equal measure, or an overgrown ruin in the distant past. Any other purpose suits the mother far better.

Why do people keep saying that religions would have to completely change or be destroyed after first contact with aliens? I don't think any religion is in conflict with aliens existing unless it explicitly said they don't exist.

    Dear Poppy,

I shouldn't be doing this. Your father would be upset with me. He just told me not to dwell. But you are both asleep now: you forever, your father for now.

For a long time I haven't believed in God because why would He allow me to give birth to you if you didn't intend on following Him? If I spend a lifetime in worship and you choose otherwise, what am I to do with my life? My afterlife? I would refuse to reap the benefits of my servitude if I knew you could not. I would fall to hell with you, in penance for putting you in sight of God, to punish or favor at His discretion, to have used me as a tool to bring forth your soul for judgment.

And yet now that you are gone I feel as though you did have a soul, and God judged it rightly as young and pure, innocent and faultless, the most deserving of His Kingdom. I cannot imagine you as belonging anywhere other than heaven, now that you will never be in my arms, but safely in His.

I am terrified of that embrace.

Because He has you captive now: where I was once committed to following you to hell, it seems I now must try and claw my way to heaven. I will have to continue living this life, to allow God time to make his judgment. I will have to comfort your father in the morning, if he wishes me to. On Sunday I will have to tell your grandparents of my failure to secure their lines. In a few weeks I will have to clear an area in the garden to plant poppy seeds in the fall.

I must wade through the muck and miracle of this life, helpless but to enjoy it sometimes, even without you. I was planning to thank you for all your firsts: God planned something else for us. I see now that your death, like your birth would have been, is pain with a purpose. I suspect you've saved my soul tonight. It might take me many more years to realize it fully, but when I do I will know who to thank.

    Thank you, Poppy.

I hope you will wait for me.

    I love you.

Just looked at myself in the mirror for the last time. What a ghastly, gaunt and disgusting faceー I look like a serial rapist. My hairline is receeding in an unkempt manner up the sides, and it seems both my eyebrows and hair are thinning as well. I bent closer to the mirror to inspect my skinー rough, blotchy, and heavily scarred by acne. This is a face so disgusting that not even a mother could love it.

I tried to go to sleep right away. As I drifted off, I had a pre-dream vision of a woman, chubby, cute, and with a piercing in her nose, sitting in front of me as a girlfriend. I reached out to touch her, and the image of my own face flashed before meー felt so much disgust and shame that I awoke nauseous, and even as I write this, my stomach churns uneasily within me. I haven't been able to fantasize about romance lately for the same reasons. Not only can I not realistically imagine being loved, I feel so much shame and disgust at the thought of tainting someone else with my touch that I can no longer fantasize at all.

I hate myself more than I can even describe. I must die.

Get a good skin care routine and ask your doctor for prescription tretinoin or accutane, it will make a huge difference.

Shave your head and grow a beard if you can.

Things can get better. I doubt you're as unattractive and hopeless as you seem to believe. Change what you can about your appearance, and accept the things you can't change. Look into getting therapy and medication.

Actions have an inward and an outward effect. I suppose "actions" can be divided into those which are meant to have an immediate effect, such as taking a swig of water, and those meant to have a more long-term effect, such as pursuing a particular career. It is true that one could plausibly find oneself suddenly unable to take a swig of water from a cup stationed right next to one, but it would mark a disruption of a taken-for-granted order of things, an order of things which founds the basis of the possibility of intention. Actions have aims. One could possibly claim that certain voluntary acts of thought, such as for instance surpressing the urge to say or do something, which has no observable outward effect, are forms of actions, "negative actions" perhaps, in that they do constitute a effort of will in order to achieve some tangible outward goal.

There is the tremendous mystery of what it means to give thought to something, to ponder, which in my experience I would think of as more or less intentional, although to be fair I have shown little ability so far in life to "say no" to a good train of though, and so perhaps it is more correct to think of this phenomenon as an enticing exposition. But probably one can choose to think or not to think about something, and this should probably constitute a kind of action. This is more gut-feeling than anything else. What do you think?

The point really is that all action takes place with a predetermined medium- that which you are trying to effect is truly "given"; but there can also be inward consequences. If there can not be inward consequences then moral self-improvement, if at all possible, would be entirely divorced from action. This is hard to believe, since in order to be meaningful moral self-improvement is meant to inform action. I suppose this isn't to say that contemplation plays no part, and, I suppose, I am not in a position to determine that it isn't in fact contemplation which alone achieves moral self-improvement. But if so then at the very least contemplation must be informed by *something*, inward or outward observation. An example of inward observation here would be something like feelings of guilt; outward observation could be feelings arising from observing some event, like a tragedy.

Fair enough, that is a relevant example. I mean more like you could think "what are the implications of the colors of the suits of the Power Rangers" but then you could think "that's really not worth thinking about it"

Both thoughts are just nuances of a prejudice. To have the second one, you have to arrive at the first to dismiss it, which means you have to explain why you had the first which led to the second, when most people have not had the first, and for those that do have the first, the second is a long time coming for many, generally after they researched the shit out of japanese words for red, green, blue, yellow, pink and their social meanings. You're just assuming the value of the second thought is greater than the first, rather than present in the prejudice which created the first.

I think that to a Great extent, what religions claim to provide are holistic ways of life meant to engender inner and outer peace, which would include schemes of actions meant to safeguard and cause to grow "better" qualities in man. For instance regarding charitable giving as a means for "self-purification". The apparent implication being that beyond an outward good- "a poor person gets comfort"- there is also an inward effect, the action shapes the person. I stated this as an axiomatic fact- and I do believe in it- in the beginning of my last post, but I must admit that I could not determine it as such is pressed.

What I am really thinking about is what could be meant by Gods rulership of all things. One thing I've thought before is that if we could have perfect insight in this rulership, we could perfectly predict the weight and value of all things, which seems a haughty goal for us. Then again in some ways I suspect there could be saints who have made that journey. For myself I've been stuck on this point a long time. I'm really just train-of-thoughting this to see where it goes, if anywhere. I feel I have a lot of fragments of thoughts that could perhaps be discovered to cohere being thusly examined.

      >I suppose "actions" can be divided into those which are meant to have an immediate effect, such as taking a swig of water, and those meant to have a more long-term effect, such as pursuing a particular career.
It seems this is an important distinction. And, if one is honest, it seems rather clear that a sober mind will view virtually all acts as more or less probabilistic with regard to their achieving their intended goal, be it in shorter or longer term. In their outward consequences, actions with more longer-term inentions simply can not be predicted like more immediate actions sometimes can.

This leads to perhaps the greater question, and the question of what "purification" or "improvement" could entail: what accounts for the specific variables a person judges before he decides to act? What determines what interests a person? Can it be altered? I think much of religious morality pertains to this. Chastity, not just in terms of sexual abstinence but even as "abstinence of the eyes", for instance.

The schools of thought have perverted the art of thinking. In reality, thought is no more than a bodily tool like hands and legs. When a complex problem arises, thought is there to solve the problem. Give no food to your thoughts; your thoughts will be about nothing. Feed your thoughts with thoughts, and you will produce philosophy. This somewhat incestuous reproduction of thoughts is exactly what can make philosophy so perverted. Something like the snake that eats it's own tail. You must give your thoughts real food. Of course, and I have done this mistake myself, was to feed my thoughts with thoughts because there was nothing better to feed my thoughts with. You can feed your thoughts with drugs and that will give your thoughts entertainment. In reality, this is not real thinking, it's passive thinking, mere entertainment, it is genuinely as bad as TV. You can use your thoughts for your own entertainment; but if you don't feed them, the thoughts will become undernourished. And I did the following mistake as well, to think that my thoughts will get used to this hardship, and one day improve out of the situation and turn into something better, something that lives up to the expectation of entertaining itself. With itself; truly, this is just mental masturbation. It is the sexual infancy of thought. Sexual; the thought produces an output triggered by an input, without said output being useful for anything other than a momentary pleasure after wich it rots out and dies. The thought is as good as the seed. Keep it, and you keep it's energy. Use it purposelessly, you waste it's output, you age your thoughts, mature them perhaps well enough if you do it within certain measures, get past them and you engage in something as bad as porn. Truly, meaningless thinking is not only a waste of energy and time, done long enough it will turn you as stupid and moronic as someone who watches TV and porn all day.
To not think at all, that is the highest of philosophies, it is the ultimate self-constraint and the wisest application of the power of thought; to keep it, not to waste it, and to only use it when it brings real returns.

I think you have helped me point out some problems with my entire approach to things. There should be some kind of harmony, the solution shouldn't be sought in thought alone. One shouldn't wait too much to act, this is unbalanced. That is in fact what I have been doing, waiting to act until something makes sense. "Sense" requires value, and value requires the festival of life. I'm sure thought has its due place, but I thank you for helping me realize that it shouldn't be able to do what I'm trying to use it for. God bless you anon and good travels!
