Take the rat pill, and theme it. You won't regret it
>gtk3
Trash.
Is this the screen tear version? I can't tell.
t. xfeces user
it's not
no, I think that got fixed so the gif is now fixed too
BASED
Xfce dabs on every other DE
Xubuntu with xmonad and dmenu & xmobar is a really beautiful combination
Yeah just a shame about that lack of Wayland and updates.
you forgot
>maintenance mode
>development halting to a stop
>developers already thinking about archiving it completely
stop spreading FUD, Xfce is like that as long it existed
Dude XFCE won't get wayland support.
and that's a good thing
Not when you consider GTK5
GTK4 is trash so they better stay on GTK3 for the eternity
GTK5 is right around the corner. X Display System could stop working tomorrow.
i just use tty and links if that day were to happen
>GTK5 is right around the corner.
Is this 2025?
GTK4 literally just came out a year and a half ago. 5 is far from right around the corner.
>won't get wayland support.
That is a good thing. I wish more developers took a stand against all that shitty software, ie: poettering crapware
great, because Xfce is finished software and don't need more "development"
Computing is never something that finishes. It's meant to evolve for its entire existence. Being "finished" like a human being finished, toast, dead, etc.
I see you have zero professional experience in programming.
consoomer detected
I have 10 years of experience, only thing that makes money in current company is some service written in CoffeeScript that has 1 commit in few months development pace, there is such things as finished software
No regrets since Hardy.
Nah, I think the default GNOME its more effective for working, but XFCE4 still pretty good and its lightweight
>looks good
>best wm
>is better than xfce
>million useless options
>leaks memory like crazy
nah I'll pass
As a KDE user I must say it's buggy as frick compared to other DE
yeah I know, worth it tho
>million useless options
ive never heard of someone complaining about more options and configuration on IQfy
its a fugly combo of old design and garbage flatshit with a garbage panel and alt+f4 as the only keybind, not even win to open start menu
why use it?
>flatshit
It's fully GTK theme related, not DE.
>garbage panel
Simple configurable panel. Install different if you want.
>alt+f4 as the only keybind
Not true, it have different keybindings by default, you can remap everything by your liking.
>win to open start menu
It is true that default menu doesn't work like that, because Xfce rely on it Appfinder shortcut. But whiskermenu plugin allow you to set any keybind you want.
All your complains goes from 5 min usage experience.
as a Xfce user, removing the screen tearing from that gif completely ruins it
Based Mouse enjoyer.
No, because 'TearFree" option exist for years, as well as standalone compositors if you wish.
I use XFCE. Lightweight, does what I need, doesn't get in my way. Only gripe is that the UI rendering is pretty janky. It'd be nice if stuff like dragging windows around or opening menus didn't remind me of CDE on Solaris in 1999.
I only use xfce because it is lightweight. If I can find another acceptable DE smaller than xfce I will switch
doesnt scale well for high dpi monitors 🙁
been using it since 2001. Latest laptop is 4k and the window borders look tiny.
Isn‘t there a hi dpi version of the default theme that just comes with the DE?
This is an image board, let's see some examples showcasing Xfce
Grabbed off internet just for this thread.
Black Lives Matter
That is correct, anon
u.s. americans are really attached to messianic figures, similarly to latin americans and russians to their criminal saints.
he's like progressive variant of blue-collar right wing "qanon"/"trump", it doesn't matter that it doesn't make sense, it's the messianic idealization that matters, that's politics in 2022. btw progressivism is continuation of christianity, "george floyd" is just an updated anti-racist version of jesus, he died for sins and internalized racism of all crackas.
The Burn Loot Murder company and all of it's supporters are literal terrorists.
Very nice
Thanks

Forgot to ask, don't you use workspaces? I don't but just left them. I might try some things. Like the clean look of yours.
Sometimes I do. I usually divide my workspaces into Browsing--Media/Music--Communication--Code. But since I'm just shitposting, I'm only using 1 atm
Xfce is great for what it is, but something about gtk-based DEs makes them incapable of dealing with thumbnails efficiently. I have a folder with about 20,000 images that I want to sort that crashes both Nautilus and Thunar, whereas Dolphin works amazingly well.
The white man's minalist DE, all the benefits of xfce but without troony code.
>without troony code
But with cuck code instead. Lets already agree that all toolkits are fricked and use whatever works for us.
No, Qt is great. GTK is troony garbage.
Nah
is there a tilling extension for xfce4? i might switch to it but im used to tilling wms
>xorg
>no devs
>stable
It's a lot buggier and convoluted since the last time I used it years ago. Loading a theme breaks the panel and trying to set launcher icons with a png seems to break it - and there's no drag and drop.
Maybe it's conflicting with kde plasma, idk.
