Not OP - but I think the idea is that traditionally psychologists say that men tend to marry women like their mother. So what does Jung say when you’re gay in other words you want to marry your father.
My own research on the subject has lead me to the puer aetrunus complex and the writings of his assistant von-Franz. Basically the over domineering mother and the idea that your mother symbolically castrates you. The stuff is deep and I’m still processing to see if it’s relevant.
In my own individual instance I was never molested (like all the bigots claimed) but my mom was kind of over domineering….so who knows there may be some truth to it. But I don’t see the whole chain that makes one like the male form vs female form.

I don’t know. I’ve always been suspect of over-arching theories, but I will say that I want I read more. And when I read von Franz I had to take breaks because it hit too close to home. I honestly don’t even care as much about changing my sexuality as just wanting to know why.

I’ve wondered this and my guess is that we didn’t get as much time to socialize with other males when we were younger and so we desire that time with young males. But I think this is true with straight males too. Liking young females is a nostalgic throwback to their youth.

That's exactly what it is. Gay men are removed of their manhood by their mothers: the mothers of homosexuals are always domineering or borderline.
