My 1080 Ti is good. If something happens to it, I still have my old 1060. I'll be fine.

I wouldn't mind. It's under warranty through EVGA.

my 1050 ti died a couple of months ago

thankfully i had a 1050 2gb that i got it with during BF years ago. it was like 200 for both. now that's not even price of a single card.

If my 5700xt dies, that'll suck, but it's not the end of the world. I'll just hook up my trusty HD7850 that I used for 8 years before that

In warranty, so it's okay. I even contacted my manufacturer once and asked if I'd even get a new one thanks to the shortage and they said I'd probably get a generation newer ever, so I'm most likely going to purposefully frick it as up a QC fault before warranty ends.

          Even then
I've been doom pilled that GPUs will never be normal again and any GPU purchase is going to be a VERY long term affair
My 1080 ti just went out of warranty a few months ago and I fully expect to use it a few more years

every day I tell myself today is the day something will be good enough to replace wow for me.
Warframe was for about 3500 hours, got everything and every good build whole f2p. D3 for a summer in 2017. Doom eternal for a month.
One day they'll have to make a good video game. When that day comes I'll be able to fill all 360hz of my monitors refresh rate.

          it's never gonna happen.
as a kid every game is awesome no matter how shit it runs.
when you're older even buttery smooth ray traced hdr glory will be boring after a couple hours

It has nothing to do with that it's that modern games lack the things I want and the same changes are evident even in wow itself.
They simplified and homogenized the classes and simplified gear dramatically reducing the difference between an absolute god at the game and a casual. This reduces incentive to invest your ego into the game.
Socialization in games is far reduced. Take gears of war 1 for example on Xbox. You go into a lobby, 4v4, and wait for it to fill up with players. As it's filling up everyone can talk to everyone. The game is multiple rounds, usually 19. When you're in the game you can only talk to alive players on your team. Dead players can talk amongst themselves regardless of team. Once the round is over everyone can talk to everyone again for like 30 seconds I think it was.
This is an ideal set up to make friends, shit talk, develop rivalries. Have fun. No moderation what so ever.
Last couple of times I went to play a shooting game, including gears on Xbox one, there was no one talking at all. Same thing in WoW I'm very out going and used to have a shit load of friends to play with, I made the groups and ran the guild, now it's fricking way harder to meet people.
Again this reduces incentive to invest your ego into the game. All this shit is to reduce the difference between the best and the average and to make sure the best can't rub it in their face.
With out your ego thoroughly intertwined with the game it's way harder to no life it, to play it all day, to truly experience complete escapism and that is what I want in a game. Can't even make it past the hour long intro in AAA games.

Just live without a gpu then lol.

What do you need it for anyway? Web browsing runs perfectly well without it, and we all know that's at least 70% of your free time. Meme learing? You don't care about hardware costs - you have access to faculty/company cluster. Crypto or bideo games? See below.

Let the gpu die so you can live anon.

Ever since the ATI Radeon 9800 XT, I've NEVER had a card fail. I've bought new, used, and refurbished. Maybe with the crypto morons it's possible, but I don't think cards "fail" as much as people like to FUD about them. Probably trivial to fix if they do. What? Replace a capacitor? Oh no!

Funnily I had R9600 that developed snow and memory errors and R 6870 barely 5 years old that died completely. Since then I don't buy anything over $200, actually I still have no GPU, frick miners. On upside I saved my electricity bill and room temps are lower.

That's OK, I have a Vega 64 in my main rig it got for $300 a year ago. I have an R9 fury in my HTPC. It's the strix edition... I got it for $90 over two years ago in ebay. And I have a gtx 960 in my kids loft PC I got for free in a trade over a year ago.

Any one of which could play the main games I come back to; Black Flag, Dead Space, Fallout NV and 3, and Dark Souls. So meh, screw hyperinflation
