So, what does the fat old white male Twitch streamer advocate you do, other than like and subscribe for more videos? Or is the little boomer snowflake too precious to give constructive advice, and would prefer to complain that people don't ask his permission to live their own damned lives? Serious question, asking for a friend.

How does this BTFO anything? His response is basically ‘I don’t think capitalism will end if it’s accelerated because people have said that before and it didn’t turn out that way so let’s just see what happens’

You mean globalism? Which is a combination of socialism and state capitalism; both of which are in direct conflict with free market capitalism?

      >both of which are in direct conflict with free market capitalism?
If free market capitalism is "in direct conflict" with socialism and state capitalist, how come every single instance of free market capital in history ended up evolving into socialism/state capitalism?

The inability to localize 'capitalism' to the nanoscopic caste of persons engaging in transnational organized crime will leave the Marxoid-Leninistas of the world corralled in a nineteenth century containment op indefinitely yeah

Does anyone else feel cringe with these facetime/teams/skype interviews? This mofo is lying on his bed doing the interview. I just feel intellectuals/philosophers are degrading their perception in public. I know this might sound like idol-worship, but I just can't take a person seriously enough if they dress like shit and don't take themselves seriously enough. I feel like some of these "intellectuals" would have a twitch livestream with Andrew Tate, Adin Ross or some other zoomer celebrity if they were asked to. I don't think Spengler, Nietzsche, Marx, Sartre, Russell, Heidgger would ever degrade themselves in this way.

Technology has intruded too much into private lives. I feel like people show to much of themselves to public and disrespect their character. I would never take Kant if he was seen going to McDonald's and doing interviews with zoomers.
What I mean to say is thar everything has become so childish and infantile, there is no more seriousness.

If that would be enough to turn you off from a philosopher then you are not really interested in the truth anyway. You like the facade of being an intellectual, not understanding philosophy

This is not what he was talking about. It is dishonest to distort it through this reply

        Anonymous

No, I will try to listen to a philosopher even if he is having a zoom lecture in pyjamas. But the problem is in the overall degradation of society. I don't care about the facade that much, but it makes me lose interest if someone doesn't take themselves or what they are doing seriously enough. This reminds me of Stefan Zweig's book "World of Yesterday". He has a chapter on the seriousness of society in pre WW1 Europe. How the youth tried to imitate elders and wanted to be seen as mature, capable and wise. Today everything is flipped.

I wouldn't even call it a facade. I think how we present ourselves speaks much more deeply about us than the words laced with self-delusion we pour out. If you want to learn the truth about a society look at how it presents itself, that's where its beliefs are found.

i think zizek has even spoken about this, with regards to trump
something about him saying out loud vulgarities everyone is aware of and precisely the act of saying those out loud being tactless more so than the words themselves

Saw this thread and decided to watch both of Zizek's "Pervert's Guide" movies. What a waste of time. Nice to see an early prototype for YouTube video essays and I disagree that it's word salad, but wow, it's true that he is physically incapable of offering up a solution or saying much of actual substance.

His tics notwithstanding, Zizek's psychoanalysis has always seemed like some kind of very elaborate party favor or sleight of hand trick. It's interesting, and then there's nothing to be gained from it. He's really just an entertainer, a pop philosopher if you will., he can't elevate a work so much as use it as some virtual dartboard for his next tangent without a conclusion.
