Zoom cashiers

>Trying hard to stay afloat in a restaurant industry spending 36% of its cash on labor and with minimum wage creeping to $16, a cadre of local New York City chains have found a shrewd way to save: enlisting the help of cashiers video calling in from the Philippines, and paying them 2$ per hour.
>He also acknowledged that tipping could be a huge bonus for the outsourced workers — who live in a country where the median monthly wage is just $325 a month.

Amazon Go powered by Indians behind the scenes, cars with no driver, outsourced IT jobs.
Why do you think they won't outsource *your* job? Even if it's a job at a factory, why won't we put Jamal from Africa looking after those belts via Zoom?

    >workplace start outsourcing chat customer support and 2nd line to Filipinos using Google translate
    >everyone just starts calling in instead and now there is a constant 100+ queue on the phone lines

    It's all so tiring.

Even with ChatGTP it's still an absolute train wreck. Their answers are so robotic, unhelpful and copy pasted that when they added an AI chat bot the few people left who still bothers to use the chat support barely noticed.
2nd line can't even bother replacing the names of their copy pasted responses so a bunch of customers get called another persons name constantly. Why are Filipinos so lazy? The past year has basically just been doing damage control from brain dead outsourcing decisions. Thank frick I'm getting reassigned.

It is illegal to not accept cash in the United States (unless there is a deadly pandemic of course!)

Pretty sure you don't need to accept cash in USA. Government offices do and if you have debt the one you're paying to has to accept. Daily transactions with businesses don't have to be cash.

Solved a long time ago. Europe doesn't use cash so digital order tabs works. Japan uses cash and they have replaces cashiers machines that give you your change and handle coins, bills etc.
Cashier is one of the most useless jobs out there. Half the time only there so Black folk don't steal in supermarkets. In restaurants just to smile to make you feel human?

Self checkout machines can already make change. Just hook that sorting machine up to the FliPC.

I live in a euro country lacking in tech making 800€ a month, but we've managed to address this issue, so anyone can. Recently, machines have started appearing that accept both bills and coins, providing change also in bills or coins.

These machines are gaining popularity in the food industry, coffee shops, and pharmacies, primarily as a hygiene measure. They prevent workers from handling potentially contaminated money before serving other customers. Additionally, they're seen as a safeguard in pharmacies against illnesses like colds.

While these machines still require workers to scan purchased items, supermarkets are implementing self-checkout systems where customers scan their own items. However, these self-checkouts often don't accept coins or bills.

In the near future, these technologies are likely to merge, offering a comprehensive solution. I imagine a scenario where purchasing groceries doesn't necessitate interacting with another human. As a soldier I won't be replaced, knowing that while I'm deployed protecting billionaires' properties, the day-to-day operations continue smoothly, ensuring that the hardworking individuals can't riot and fight for privilage of owning a home or some other shit like not wanting to work 8 hours a day.

How is this any different than a self-checkout line? You still have to scan items yourself, the only difference is a third worlder has to watch you do it
