OpenSUSE is doing something interesting.
Apparently you cant brake this Distro. Is this the beginning of Linux Desktop?!

Fedora Silverblue/Kinoite has done this for ages
OpenPEPE always behind as always
richard brown is a moron and opensuse is hot garbage with too many flavors already
tough audience...
>OpenPEPE always behind as always
dont care, i nuked my system 45 minutes ago and snapper saved my ass. im not switching to anything.
all of my devices run OpenPEPE and thats it. it JUST WERKS
I’d use it if it didn’t use systemd. Is there an openrc flavor?
im relatively new to loonix. i've been on and off with it for last 4-5 years but few months ago i completely ditched win11 etc etc etc.
What is the problem with this systemd and whats so appealing with this openrc?!
>What is the problem with this systemd
It's the solution to a problem few people were having.
It's a massive code base running as PID=1. This is a huge security problem.
It borged a bunch of other, important projects and messed with their code so much it's hard to use those projects without systemd.
It does its job in a non-deterministic, action at a distance way. This makes it the enemy of sysadmins - unpredictable
The developers aren't very good. The project has a history of stupid decisions.
>and whats so appealing with this openrc?!
It's not systemd.
asking for a systemd-less version is ridiculous; they are fully redhat globohomosexual and pretty much the most bloated distribution out there
bruh they all have same performance and openrc even fails to run some programs like chromium.
SystemD has more damons to run and better dodumentations.
Hah laughable
i wish this is bait
the only difference is that openrc is written in C.
>mUh hOlY c
frick out of here, i have life and job...
as seen in picrel. 17 seconds for every 3rd stage booting operating system...
He is a gnome shill and probably the sex mate of ebussy.
More immutable os bullshit
How this looks really cool ...
>GNOME
Dead on arrival
>Packages 2405 (rpm)
seems about right for openbloat
From what I've heard, OpenSUSE splits packages into sub-packages. So the same 1 package in Arch would be 3 sub-packages or more on OpenSUSE for example.
>this OS wont break
can it run the software I want it to run?
>w-well....
you people are just...i cant wrap my head around it...
morons like you is why FP isn't mainstream
>IMMUTABLE HUUUUHHH!?!!!
>THAT MEANS YOU CANT DO ANYTHING
>HOW STUPID LOOOOL
steamdeck is one of the most popular immutable oss. how is it different than that
>you cant do anything
correct. at least without installing a certain package
Android, iOS, MacOS, ChromeOS are all immutable as well. With immutable Linux you can still install packages through layering but mostly you wanna go sandbox first(flatpak/snap) -> containers(toolbox/distrobox) and at last OStree or any equivalent to install packages through layering. So you can do anything you can with a regular Linux distro but without shitting up the root filesystem.
On my laptop running Silverblue I've only had to layer one package to get h264 codecs, the rest is through flatpak or through toolbox.
>Apparently you cant brake this Distro.
lol a few dd commands will break it easy, nothing is impervious to a hostile actor.
All I see in that screencap is a shitload of BLOAT
I don't think stability is what is keeping people away from Linux. Also, why do you want normies to use it? The moment devs start seeing that they can take advantage of normies and get money, they'll convert Linux into Windows 2, is that what you want?
OpenSUCY?
a cooler feature would be the ability to snapshot your current os state and run it in a VM. Why do they keep reinventing the wheel with stuff we don't need?
OpenSuse? Why would anyone want to use a dying distro instead of using a more modern and innovative distro like PopOS? PopOS is the future once COSMIC is complete.
>based on a distro that is based on a another distro.
STFU zoomer, OpenSUSE is the protagonist of Linux distros
This. Frick Gnome. The KDE version (Kalpa) could be interesting though.
openSneed
nix but worse and more convoluted
I'm sorry I'm not trans so openSUSE isn't for me, also I hate this fat piece of shit like you wouldn't fricking believe it
Has it come out of beta yet? I still don't feel like inmutable distros are ready. Layering is cumberstone for some things and adds a sizeable amount of storage bloat. Look at Bluefin and the way they hedgepodge Brew i.e.
>Openpozze
this was so fricking childish, its fricking reddit at this point i expect NWO propaganda to be forced
OpenSeethe is the redhead smelly kid from the classrom
OpenSUSE is the cute quiet girl at the back of the classroom. Arch is the annoying attention seeking one that lives off attention.
