Do any anons know any good books about the hippy movement, sexual liberation and the New Left in general? (Preferably not schizo, conspiracy stuff.)
I've been reading Elementary Particles and now I want a deeper dive into this topic.

Slouching Towards Gomorrah by Robert Bork
People who pin the decline of the West on the 1960s counterculture miss the point. Much of it was a reaction against materialism which is at least as bad if not worse.
Nice historical revisionism. It was a reaction to the turmoil of the 40s and 50s. Materialism was in 80s and 90s, and was largely a reaction to the repulsive immaterial ideals put force in the 70s.
People say materialism like it'a a bad thing. My brother in christ you are a material being. Get real.
>My brother in christ you are a material being. Get real.
Spoken like a true hylic
>People say materialism like it'a a bad thing.
It is.
>My brother in christ
what is this zoomer trend? Why do people think it is funny to LARP as a christian
I think it’s cute.
this is why i use it, its like inshallah but like if a cute boy said it
I’m not gay though
Read a Beat poem or novel sometime. Not for enjoyment but for edification; it's all about opposing the sterility of '50s capitalism and returning to the romantic spirit of Whitman and Ezra Pound.
It doesn't matter anyway. It only happened because the Axis lost.
By the way, your taking 'materialism' in a different sense than I gave it proves nothing but your snark.
>brother in christ
> you are material
...do better anon
>if you use an expression you must mean it literally.
stupid frick. do you think everyone who says thank god is actually thanking god?
Gravity's Rainbow
My grandma was a hippy, did a lot of drugs and booze. She tried to kill herself but had a schizo moment and became a born again christian. My grandfather, also a hippy, did heroin up till his death.
>I'm ready to settle down now after taking multiple BBCs
Lmao many such cases
Nah they were together when they were hippies. Idk if they did weird sharing stuff because I don't want to know.
>BBC
Couldn't help yourself there, ey burger
mayhap i touched a nerve?
picrel but don’t do drugs
for full immersion read this first
but again, don’t do drugs. they’ll make you moronic for all intensive porpoises
I couldn’t finish it. I think there was a character named “Stark Naked” that went insane from too much acid. Incredibly idiotic and tragic.
truth. many such. all these psychadelic evangelists these ignore this stuff
These two + Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
I finished this recently. A bit of a drudge at times but it's good.
Weirdly enough, it actually made me a lot more cynical about the hippie movement. I went into it knowing that there were major problems with the culture, but I was still definitely pro-hippie. I'm a big psychedelics guy and the culture always appealed to me. But after reading this I realized that hippies were probably annoying as frick to be around.
Tom Wolfe's - Pump House Gang and Electric Kool-Aid is a good place to start.
