I have coded for open source projects on and off for the past decade. I use fake identities and disappear from the project when my avoidance urge flares up and I need to dissociate. I have never had a real job as a programmer.

One time I had a successful project on github and I didn't want to deal with it anymore, but I had used the same identity for other things, so I created another fake identity to complain about it on github. I got into an ugly internet fight with myself and then I said I was done with open source because of it. I still hang with some of the people I met on github but they avoid touching the subject so it's cool.

I don't care at all about the finer intricacies and considerations in tech. I use AI services like a consumer and don't use the APIs. I don't care about clean code as long as the thing executes. I don't care about your favourite language or your counter points against mine. I want to be recognized and still be left alone.

I'm just a normal, non tech guy tradie. I have a media server.
    >I carry an HDD from my main desktop to my server to add files
    >I manual back up my files drag and drop
    >I go to the server and physically make adjustments with mouse and keyboard
I know there are quicker ways to this (SsH?) or even better methods to back up ( raid?) but every time I Google it I get confused and give up. It all works I guess.

I'm a tech legend in a few of the communities I'm part of. I talk about software, hardware, signal processing, electrical engineering. I claim to only use free software for all my work (FreeCAD, KiCad). Most people are impressed by the vast spectrum of domains that I am supposedly an expert at.

Reality is I don't know jack fricking shit. I get my shit done by random poojeets on Fiverr and people think I'm a fricking expert at everything.

At best I can write some spaghetti code in Python and that's about it, but I claim to know C, Haskell, R, etc. I claim to be a huge proponent of free software and remark how much I hate the word opensource. Till today not a single moron has asked me for my GitHub profile, which is convenient for me because I don't have a single project on it.

I get paid a ridiculous amount to "consult" and I spew random opinions about shit I read about on IQfy and if it involves any actual problem solving or development work, I hire a moron to write the code and I keep most of the money.

iPod touch was best PMP I ever owned (and I had quite a few). M1 MBP is the best laptop I ever used, if I had to buy a laptop for BYOD kind of job, would go with one again in a heartbeat. iPad Pro didn't live up to #1 tablet for me yet because of lack of software I'm used to, but hardware and user experience is great.
Still sticking to android for phone.

I love C++ too much, I tried the new shiny things like Rust and Zig, they're very good but I'm addicted, I can't help. I keep going back, I tried FP langs like Haskell and LISP, I tried Python, C, Go..., I tried father, I tried, I'm feeling stuck. There is no escape.

I don't think I like tech or passionate about it, I just like feeling of getting new things. It's very difficult thing to fight off, and I though I was doing a good job for a few months, but death of the headphones sent me spiraling down this path again... I have over two dozens things on their way to me.
