I gave up on custom ROMs just a week after unlocking my phone's bootloader. Tinkering sounds fun until you can't get texts from the person who's going to drive you home.
i think im gonna quit my job. it's less stressful than my other job but the amount of politics and office drama is way too much for me holy hell i feel like im walking on eggshells every second.
I have coded for open source projects on and off for the past decade. I use fake identities and disappear from the project when my avoidance urge flares up and I need to dissociate. I have never had a real job as a programmer.
One time I had a successful project on github and I didn't want to deal with it anymore, but I had used the same identity for other things, so I created another fake identity to complain about it on github. I got into an ugly internet fight with myself and then I said I was done with open source because of it. I still hang with some of the people I met on github but they avoid touching the subject so it's cool.
I talk good talk about coders but I don't know any programming languages
I bought a laptop with Windows 10 preinstalled and told myself I would install Linux on it
Installed Arch in a VM and fricked around for a couple of days, realised I didn't know what I was doing, went back to Windows again
I have an active subscription to YouTube Premium
>these are the people giving you motivational speeches on IQfy
nah I use the proprietary ones
desktop uses a lone 3070Ti, laptop has an Intel + 2060 combo (session running on the Intel one and using prime-run when I need the nvidia). both running Arch
I don't care at all about the finer intricacies and considerations in tech. I use AI services like a consumer and don't use the APIs. I don't care about clean code as long as the thing executes. I don't care about your favourite language or your counter points against mine. I want to be recognized and still be left alone.
why? did the previous one's keyboard melt? did the hinge die? did tie display ribbon cable get destroyed by dust? did the SSD die because it was swapping too much?
I'm just a normal, non tech guy tradie. I have a media server. >I carry an HDD from my main desktop to my server to add files >I manual back up my files drag and drop >I go to the server and physically make adjustments with mouse and keyboard
I know there are quicker ways to this (SsH?) or even better methods to back up ( raid?) but every time I Google it I get confused and give up. It all works I guess.
I used to use the tamperdata extension in firefox to modify paypal requests to 0.01 which let me buy lots of random shit for 1 cent, even bought a concert ticket once
I'm a tech legend in a few of the communities I'm part of. I talk about software, hardware, signal processing, electrical engineering. I claim to only use free software for all my work (FreeCAD, KiCad). Most people are impressed by the vast spectrum of domains that I am supposedly an expert at.
Reality is I don't know jack fricking shit. I get my shit done by random poojeets on Fiverr and people think I'm a fricking expert at everything.
At best I can write some spaghetti code in Python and that's about it, but I claim to know C, Haskell, R, etc. I claim to be a huge proponent of free software and remark how much I hate the word opensource. Till today not a single moron has asked me for my GitHub profile, which is convenient for me because I don't have a single project on it.
I get paid a ridiculous amount to "consult" and I spew random opinions about shit I read about on IQfy and if it involves any actual problem solving or development work, I hire a moron to write the code and I keep most of the money.
I have an iPhone. They look neat, last forever (had my iPhone 8 until last year) and I don't care enough about phones to take advantage of android's upsides
iPod touch was best PMP I ever owned (and I had quite a few). M1 MBP is the best laptop I ever used, if I had to buy a laptop for BYOD kind of job, would go with one again in a heartbeat. iPad Pro didn't live up to #1 tablet for me yet because of lack of software I'm used to, but hardware and user experience is great.
Still sticking to android for phone.
I dont code, at all. It just hasn't happened and I doubt it ever will. A year ago I was a Wintard who could barely use a CLI and now I'm comfortable using Linux (Mint) and commands, so that's something I guess 🙂
I love C++ too much, I tried the new shiny things like Rust and Zig, they're very good but I'm addicted, I can't help. I keep going back, I tried FP langs like Haskell and LISP, I tried Python, C, Go..., I tried father, I tried, I'm feeling stuck. There is no escape.
I don't think I like tech or passionate about it, I just like feeling of getting new things. It's very difficult thing to fight off, and I though I was doing a good job for a few months, but death of the headphones sent me spiraling down this path again... I have over two dozens things on their way to me.
i think linux (distros) is dogshit and should never be used on a desktop home computer
I work as a web dev. I code everything in javascript/typescript. I am scared of VIM and linux.
So fricking typical. Literally confirming all my biases against web "devs".
Linux is based as frick, I'm scared of Windows updates and they won't turn off permanently.
>He doesn't use WUB
>Trusting Sordum
Forgive me father for I have sinned, last week I used archinstall.
not a father but you will be punished for this
punish me daddy
I have a printer
I use windows 10
I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max after trading in my iPhone 14 Pro Max
What was the trade in value of the 14pm?
I gave up on custom ROMs just a week after unlocking my phone's bootloader. Tinkering sounds fun until you can't get texts from the person who's going to drive you home.
I code in C on Windows 10 with visual studio
i think im gonna quit my job. it's less stressful than my other job but the amount of politics and office drama is way too much for me holy hell i feel like im walking on eggshells every second.
I bought an old ass thinkpad
I called malloc instead of mmap.
I have coded for open source projects on and off for the past decade. I use fake identities and disappear from the project when my avoidance urge flares up and I need to dissociate. I have never had a real job as a programmer.
What the frick is wrong with you?!
One time I had a successful project on github and I didn't want to deal with it anymore, but I had used the same identity for other things, so I created another fake identity to complain about it on github. I got into an ugly internet fight with myself and then I said I was done with open source because of it. i tampered /etc/os-release to make neofetch think i'm using gentoo
I made a local instagram clone for my porn collection. In rust.
I talk good talk about coders but I don't know any programming languages

I past most of the time ricing my desktop and messing with vim and I have never coded anything
I use nvidia gpus on Linux
Weird but not a sin...unless you exclusively use the open source drivers.
nah I use the proprietary ones
desktop uses a lone 3070Ti, laptop has an Intel + 2060 combo (session running on the Intel one and using prime-run when I need the nvidia). both running Arch

I configured neovim. I say I use neovim. I actually use vscode with vim mode...
i crave for a big meaty chunky java IDE after 2 years running C linters, checkers, testers and build tools separately.
I use ungoogled chromium but enabled google search suggestions and browse the internet through my google account
fricking based, I'm all Google on GrapheneOS too
I uninstalled Gentoo and Arch.
To replace it with Linux From Scratch?
I'm still using utorrent 2.2.1
sometimes I don't feel like programming or applying for jobs and I play vidya instead
I just learned that the low test zoomer I work with is an actual ftm troon. If she wasn't fat fcrom the hormones maybe she'd look alright? Idk, idgaf.
I push the cd drawer in to close it rather then push the button
you fricking monster.
I killed this guy once and I was happy to do it.
You're telling me there were at least 500 holes in his jugular, 1mm thick?
I bought a Raspberry PI. I didn't even open the box.
I bought an SSD. Was scared of using up all my writes with distrohoping so I'm using the HDD.
I'm pretty sure my SSD is older than that series.
Strange in that I'm the opposite. I've been stung by multiple hard drive deaths over the years, so I'm more fearful of Total HDD Death.
I’m going to buy a new MacBook.
why? did the previous one's keyboard melt? did the hinge die? did tie display ribbon cable get destroyed by dust? did the SSD die because it was swapping too much?
No, it’s just 10 years old and the battery doesn’t last as long as it used to.
I'm just a normal, non tech guy tradie. I have a media server.

you could to it over ftp
I think that Windows 7 looks like shit and I could never go back to that pile of crap. Yes, I tried.
I was snitching. I was actually able to beat others who wanted to snitch as well but I was quicker.
I bought an Apple product once.
It was a 4th gen iPod Touch. They stopped supporting it half a year later.
I used to use the tamperdata extension in firefox to modify paypal requests to 0.01 which let me buy lots of random shit for 1 cent, even bought a concert ticket once
I ran non-free software once because I just wanted the thingie to work.
I had my mom to cancel my calls due xorg.conf

im disappointed that I read this entire larp. jesus christ if you're going to try that hard at least make it convincing
i used to hide cheat notes in the CD drive during computer science class exams
We just use chat GPT now
I can't code, nor will I ever learn coding
I'm just here to talk about tech stuff and linux
I'm a brown esl and I work for an american tech company
I once broke a giant UHD 2000$ office PC screen during a massive cubicle-space setup, and got away with it.
With no one the wiser. They all just think it got damaged during shipment.
I have an iPhone. They look neat, last forever (had my iPhone 8 until last year) and I don't care enough about phones to take advantage of android's upsides
It took me a week to check my version of xz-libs then I realised I have a LTS server which I also haven't updated in over half a year
I still use CD/DVD burners, floppies and i want to get a couple of LS120 if they weren't so fricking expensive
I still write in JavaScript instead of programming in C.
gentoo-kernel-bin and I use vscodium instead of setting up my neovim config properly
At least you're using codium and not the telemeshit vscode.
You could also at least get gentoo-kernel, even if without a custom config.
iPod touch was best PMP I ever owned (and I had quite a few). I've been having visions of replacing my loyal Thinkpad with something more modern.

Good work fren, learn hello world and you can be a hacker man like us.
I pre-ordered the Framework 16 to replace my Libreboot X200. Still gonna use Linux on it because frick Windows.
