midwits think they're smart when they're just average at best, which makes them insufferable
dimwits and topwits have similar way of thinking, therefore neither could be plebbit

if you think they're redditors, you don't want to meet redditors. Hacker News people are at least three standard deviations above redditors in IQ (because redditors are three standard deviations below the mean). Reddit has perhaps the dumbest userbase I've ever seen, though they used to be smarter last decade.

Source? Do you have a single source to back up your claim? Oh you don't have a peer reviewed source? Then you do realize that this is anecdotal evidence then, right? Ignoramus.

      they're midwits
smart enough to be competent and fairly complex
too dumb to be good and competitive at anything
this frustration manifests itself as anger, hostility, passive aggressiveness
and they use you as an emotional dumpster instead of being mature

No, it doesn't apply to me as I'm not a passive aggressive ignorant twat who thinks he's hot shit for reading the documentation.

I don't blame the zoomers. Information overload. But being an arrogant twat doesn't help with anything. It keeps you ignorant, and you make people less likely to cooperate with you if you communicate hostility.

They suffer from self-importance. Nobody really gives a shit about what they think, yet they engage in prolonged tirades about some unimportant subjects. Complete lack of original thoughts. I hope the entire board will be replaced with ChatGPT if it has not happened already.

I got so much value from HN. From book recommendations to advice and interesting stuff. It was genuinely good for me for a long while. I don't access it much these days, but because I don't have the frame of mind to dig the archives, but it's good. Having said that, I have a +10yo account and barely 50 posts in it and that's enough. It's hard to engage with some of the people in there. kek

Any (You) can be a dopamine kick sure, but when there is a entire system capable of hiding or removing your comment or entire conversations with the help of bots/moderators aware of every single shitpost on the website at all time, you get a preddit clone with people begging for good karma and medals. This is the nightmare some people want to impose as the new normal on the internet: everything said should be GBP based. Your obedience is their victory.

as a long time channian, how would you describe the secret sauce that entraps people like us and rejects completely the redditor? is it a particularly strong ego, that can handle the label of anonymous, or the particularly weak ego that never had a label to begin with?

Rejecting morons not on the same line as us has always been there here. Some of us instinctively know by experience when glowies and israeliteBlack folk want to derail things, particularly on /misc/. They already lost that war.

you forgot about the inane obsession with (misusing) references, sometimes to the point of replacing a comma with [0] (also 0-based indexing to sound extra computer sciency which means you're even smarter!)
