if you actually knew hip hop you'd know born sinner is completely derivative, starting with the title. Cole is just like Logic, a hip hop head. the good beats are cribbed from classic songs. I like Power Trip, Trouble, and She Knows tho.

    Unless for some reason he's saying Section.80, an album J.Cole produced for and wanted to sign Kendrick before it dropped, doesn't count, he's saying;

The critical praise lavished on TPAB is nothing more than the bigotry of low expectations.

Critics would never admit it, but they recognize deep down that rap is at best a degenerated form of music, and at worst not music at all. This is proven by the way they creamed themselves over the parts of TPAB where something halfway musical peeks through, such as its perfunctory jazz, or rehashed funk.

None of this would be impressive on its own, but it becomes a major act of innovation when affixed to a musical genre widely (though secretly) assumed to be artistically and intellectually bankrupt.

If Miley Cyrus had stuck a sax solo on one of her songs, does anyone think critics would lose their minds over her genius genre-bending? Of course not - it's only impressive when it's done in rap, because they know intuitively that rap is degenerate, savage, and idiotic, and it is thus held it to a lower standard.

White critics should admit to themselves they don't actually like rap - they just like feeling anti-racist and socially conscious - and that this is the real reason they get so excited when a rap artist does something that makes their music sound less like rap.

This doesn't make the rapper a genius, it just means the critic should give up their rap fixation and listen to jazz or rock or whatever, since that's clearly what they prefer.

Jazz is boring. TPAB takes jazz elements are brings them to a high intensity which is appealing to a non-jazz fan listener, and allow them to complement energetic rap performance of kendrick as he fights depression and takes responsibility for his people and culture. The repugnant album cover tells you all you need to know about its contents.

A mob of jeering, half-naked savages, clutching cash and waving alcohol, violently occupying the lawn of the White House, stomping on the personification of law and order in an aggressive act of defiance against civilization.

In a word, the cover captures the essence of Black folk.

And that's what the album is about too - being a Black person. Desecrating order and beauty. Inciting and glorifying violence. Obsessing over sexuality and reproductive organs. Gleefully tearing down all tenets of civilization, then blaming the white man for the black community's desolation and nihilism. Wallowing in victimization.

Such an album cover should provoke a visceral reaction of disgust in anyone that doesn't want to go back to the stone age.

Consider how utterly unacceptable it would be for a white musician to feature a gang of white men gleefully killing a black man as their album cover.

    It would incite an uproar.

The reverse barely registers, so ubiquitous and accepted is black violence.

White fans of this are clueless. A white boy having this in his record collection is like a israelite putting a Nazi flag up in their room. It is an incitement to violence. It is stochastic terrorism.

Kendrick would slit your throat if he had the chance, and drink the blood like a tribal warlord.

To Pimp A Butterfly isn't the music of an oppressed artist-poet speaking out against the powers-that-be to liberate his community; it's the sound of a resentful, sulking, rage-filled Black person who fantasizes daily about spilling the blood of his white neighbors.

It's the sound of someone who smiles when he reads the headline that another white woman was raped and killed by his brothas.

It's the sound of someone who would spit in the drink of the white customers he was serving.

It's the sound of someone who shouldn't be allowed access to firearms.

It's the sound of someone who needs therapy.

TPAB is absolute garbage. It was around the same time that Kenduck also started appearing in Taylor Swift songs. He's such a race baiting homosexual and should feel ashamed for biting the hand that feeds him. J Cole isn't any better though, he's a boring industry plant.

this album is extremely boring; I couldn't finish it when I tried listening and I enjoy a fair amount of rap

Kendrick should feel ashamed dissing the man who saved him from getting ass raped by Diddy. Probably realised his career is falling apart after his last album sunk like a stone and is trying to start fights with whoever he can to remain in the spotlight. Anyway, J Cole sucks too but he made fun of trannies on that surprise mixtape thing he just put out so he’s based in my books

Rap would have to BE music in order for me to say that it's the one that I hate the MOST!!

White boy here. Let me tell you I'm not really "down" with hip hop or rap, but TPAB was straight fire. It had a message and was really like well structured with no skits and cool jazz beats. It was like really chill but also really schooled my white ass. Truly the greatest of all time.

I thought this was the fact and it was an inside joke saying "TPAB was a classic 12/10 perfect".

Kendrick and Cole are both good, not great, and will be washed away and forgotten. Eminem, Kanye and Lil Wayne were the last good "Big Three" because their music occasionally had messages to them but, first and foremost, focused on craftsmanship and being good music. Cole/Drake/Kendrick are a sad excuse for "Big" anything. Rap either needs new superstars, or a new genre is about to rise to the top.
