If these are the last people who read it's better reading dies altogether. It's because of these shitters that now we get insanely pretentious and crappy books by authors who couldn't cut it in Science and now think that putting in random elements they tell the readers to interpret as scientific allusions is way to write good, profound fiction. All the crap this untranslated guy has shilled since 2018, Schattenfroh, Solenoid, Troiacord, Los Sorias etc., are all bad science fiction novels by writers too full of themselves to acknowledge that.

That dude translated Ulysses into Turkish. I have not checked it, but sounds like he wants to collect big names under his belt.
Atay's novel is indeed not easy to translate, then again, knowing the intelligentsia in Turkish literary circles, this sounds more like politics and drama.
once I wrote an article about some Turkish translation of a well-known poet, analysing it theoretically, and the translator dude found me and wrote me an email how what I said was wrong.
This gives me an idea, maybe I can write an article about Ulysses' Turkish translation.

I've only read a couple of 'reviews' or essays or whatever they are on his sites on a few books I've read, and he didn't pretend to have read them, but had a small summary of what the book is about, why it's considered untranslatable and some key points from his conversation with the translator working on a translation thereof (which to this day is incomplete).
Does he talk about books he's actually personally read?

  5. 8 months ago

Ok so this is now the second post about him.

There's usually a good reason and a real reason for something. Give us the real reason why you hate him? And are you implying that him and Max Lawton are in a homosexual relationship?

I don't know these people from Adam..but am just curious about why you dislike him so much.

I do agree with some of your premises. First, 99% of people who develop even minor social media following are propelled either by the desire for vanity or for commercial interests. Its for this reason that it's difficult to separate the authentic from the inauthentic.

He leído means I have read. No one talks like this and it sounds incomplete. The normal thing would be to say Lo he leído or even Yo lo he leído (to emphasize the subject), both meaning I have read it. Subtle yet very telling difference. This means his knowledge of Spanish is rudimentary or very basic.

Imagine that someone is talking about a book in English:
      "Ulysses is a good book."
And then someone else out of nowhere says:
      "I have read"
Does that sound natural to you? Well, it's the same in Spanish. It doesn't sound natural. Maybe it's influenced by Slavic constructions.

            STEVENS ON SAFARI

It can not ever change. What once was there
is still there because it will not be changed,
but something is changing. A feel for change
can be attained- yet not through change itself,
            but rather without- through a change in view;
this pain beyond logic just rearranged,
like a leopard sneaking up into range,
of a young gazelle in ignorant health-

then the chase begins, the break from all things
thought as commonplace, yet hoped for as rare,
in a dutied life subsumed in a blue
            besides color, or its recognition:

from a bower a glower, and the cat brings
forth the death of youth, this love of clear vision!

            THE PASSINGS

There are years to go before the last perfect day
on Earth. Then the sun will begin to swell, and life
will cease, shorelines will retreat as oceans boil,
and all will glow a barren red and airless gray.
By then I will be shadow, long dead. Now, I live
amid joys and sorrows, with the love of a girl
in a backseat, behind her mommy and daddy,
as they pilgrim to a motel in New Hampshire,

blowing kisses out her window to teenage strays,
drunk in a sportscar, honking and cursing at her
family squareback's pace, as they are full on passing,
as if they are ready to face eternal sleep,

as they leave her family behind on the highway,
that is endless, and endless, and everything.

            THE RAPE OF MARY

This void is that she could never swallow:
            when behind the ravening marketplace,
that pit of commerce, the alley growing
darker with each step, where that day expunged
the moment it happened- removed her space-
from within. She encompassed its shudder,
or so she dreamt. She thought, then, tomorrow
she could begin to love this difference plunged

beyond her Lord. But that feral smile,
his mortal smells filled the Holy Mother
hung on a fiction that could never be:

the virgin's delight; the rapist plowing
past her desire to be defiled-
O to be fricked so immaculately!
