I think Iowa City has a decent writers workshop thing, but I don't know if there's anything of value coming out of there, and its more of a college/NPR kinda thing
Workshop's been surpassed imo. Ironically, one of the program's ahead of them is in an artsy city: Michener at UT Austin. Thing about these cities is that they court a type of person that IQfy types aren't fond of.
Kek, flyover soulless garbage. Imagine being told what to do by a workshop and thinking you can produce anything of creative value. The school of hard knocks makes the best writers.
NYC is still the center of the cultural world. Sorry but it's true.
Goddammit. All I need to live IQfyty is like 2 million dollars. I'd spend 3%, $60k/year. I'm not asking to be Elon Musk. I just want to be bourgeois without working.
I lived there and it's a cultural dead zone. Absolute bare minimum of wypipo stuff. Orders of magnitude behind New York. But I guess you read a tweet about mUh MaNaGeRiAl ClAsS
>culture
it's where 75-80% of the important decisions in the country are made. I live in NY fwiw

if you read peter gatien's book it was really guiliani. they changed that anti-dancing law recently though i think right before the pandemic, so it's just kicking in now.
Bruh I was living in the city for both guilianis and bloombergs. I literally watched bloomberg kill the after hours spots even fricking Ghost Face Killah was b***hing to me about that israelite killing the island.

The world itself seems anti-art nowadays. Anti-art and anti-intellect. It's all about the grindset, getting muscular, girls, fashion, trends. What a big nothing the world has become.

Iowa City is just a college town. Few of the writers in the Workshop are even notable at all.

Nowhere in america that‘s for damn sure
>What cities are artist communes these days?
where sex apps are popular, especially the homosexual ones
any in australia? asking for an enemy
Australia has no literature to speak of. It's an intellectual wasteland.
Austin (thanks to the great California exit.) Too expensive for any artist who isn't a fundie to live in, though.
Unironically Los Angeles
Artists have been priced out. American culture is a branch of the military industrial complex now. Has been for at least fifty years.
Biloxi, Mississippi
Idk lets make one

Southern Utah. North East Arizona/North West New Mexico. Go out in nature in there and try to not be inspired.
>zoomer wants to larp as le beat generation writer
Uh, basically any large metropolitan area is solid. You can easily restrict dilettantes and wanna-bes from your social circle. Also not literature.
