I'm currently reading The Running Man and he refers to Black folk as "blacks", which I've been told isn't very politically correct.

Great book. I swear that the ending of it influenced some historical event you will surely recognize. I want to read Rage. I wonder if it also has had some influence over some crazy people, leading to school shootings and stuff.

I wanna read that one too. Roadwork is another good one. No paranormal stuff, just a guy who goes batshit insane.

I hate the way his face looks and therefore have refused to ever read any of his books. Never have and never will.
    Heard they're pretty mid tho

The frick he's even talking about? Is he senile already? Also, I'm sure his wikipedia page says he's actually a theist.

He's under the impression that the current conflict, which probably will actually get us all killed (he's right there) is actually about abrahamism rather than cynical imperialism using religious morons as pawns & window dressing. So he decided to give the most fedora take possible on a platform originally designed for teenage girls

are the religious a force of nature, or the existence of sociopaths who would abuse it?

After seeing several movies based on his books and reading On Writing I've come to the conclusion that I don't think I want to ever read his actual books.

His novels would be great if they were shorter. I’ve read about half of them and every one of them should have had about 25% shorter. It could have been over half its published size.

ie, he writes twice as much as he needs to in most cases. few authors need a ruthless, overbearing editor as badly as the king of doorstops

I remember him talking about writing like 25 characters at once, and in the end, just killing off half of them for no reason to make it easier to write. Isn't this straight up admitting that your work is worthless? What was the point of having so many of them in the first place?

      >What was the point of having so many of them in the first place?
He's a process-oriented, ontologically styled writer; he writes simply to write, & see what happens, with very little regard for long-term structure or design. it's why the last third of most of his novels turn to crap

There's nothing wrong with that but you're kinda supposed to edit it into an actual book after that.

true, its why i expressed these sentiments earlier

ie, he writes twice as much as he needs to in most cases. few authors need a ruthless, overbearing editor as badly as the king of doorstops

. throughout most of his career, his editors have been entirely too soft & accomodating for him
