Why are they like this
most music devices are stupid anyways. You can recreate the thing of most electronic insturments with a fricking numpad. if companies made a musical electronic device that just acted as controllers and made another device(a computer) the thing that acutally plays the thing prices would be alot cheaper.
well you can just use vsts in fl studio or something
same thing happened to me, the prices are absurd. I might go back to make music now that I've switched to Live, but ngl, no matter which tools I use, I still suck at music :^)

They have sequencers and memory for different instruments, loads of addressable nobs for each instrument.
You can get simple one that has none of that for 50bux MIDI controllers can be very complex or very simple.
>made another device(a computer) the thing that acutally plays the thing prices would be alot cheaper

Don't but the field. It's overrated
Get the original on eBay/reverb/locally for under $700 and it will hold its value for you to resell if you don't like it
I did this twice and only ate the shipping costs really.
They are really fun to play with but both times I've found I don't have the knack for making full songs.
If is get back into gamedev I may do it again to make some repetitive background music
maybe I'll do that if I decide to learn production. I'm currently cursed with the attribute of my interests waning and waxing over time so who knows if I'll get to it
Get a used Field if you can find one. The original OP-1 is a decade old and it shows. Sound quality is garbage, the whole signal chain is in mono, sample length is cut in half and you only get one tape reel. Storage is also significantly smaller in general.
well I'm not trying to make money off of it. I used to play trombone in highschool but I don't think I'm cut out for performance art, just can't let loose and express myself.
>all you need is a midi keyboard
This. There's unimaginable amounts of overpriced crap for sale to "musicians." It's every bit as bad as audiophile.

Like, here's a basic ass unbranded MIDI keyboard, if you just want MIDI controller to PC and nothing else, for game dev or whatever.
This is as much as you "need" to spend to get basic keys input to a computer. I probably wouldn't gig with it but perfectly usable for home hobby crap.
Not saying there's not a use case for $2000 composers, just that if you need one, you'll know it, and don't need my shitty advice.
Maybe you wouldn't get flooded with AI if you made more than the same shitty EDM beats and top40 pop songs a trillion other electronic "musicians" already made.

I bought mine for ~450 bucks in 2014 when people completely stopped caring, right before it got popular again.

What's wrong with his reading comprehension?
How is a boycott "cancel culture"?
Is he calling for specific people to be fired? Is he calling for people to be shunned for their beliefs?
Also "overlords" would imply authoritarian measures.

Because the crank is a moronic idea. Should've just made a Gameboy Color clone and kept the bite sized game idea and a focus on homebrew (and of course have a Game Boy emulator)
Well, we all know the Playdate was a grift against moronic millennials paying $200 for $15 in parts. The Playdate's only interesting idea was making bite sized games and drip feeding them. But that's it, the crank is moronic. And you're moronic for buying it and not seeing it for what it was, a ripoff financial exploitation device for upper middle class white trannies.
It was an overpriced fancy fidget spinner targeted towards novelty chasers. What's the point paying for a device that costs as much as a smartphone but with a much smaller library of games?
i was interested in it for a while but it took them like a billion years to actually release so i stopped caring. seriously i think i signed up for the mailing list when i was in high school
Almost 300$ for shitty reinvention of Gameboy with shitty gimmick controls and weird "live service" way of releasing games. Also obnoxious promotional campaign composed of paid "social influencers" and made up non-descriptive slogans like "teenage engineering".

They were woke from the start, though.
I figured Panic made a toy for a bunch of upper-middle-class Mac-using baizuo and I guess they have an interesting side business that’s scratching a creative itch that they couldn’t get from making a very good SFTP+dog client (Transmit) and a Mac-assed text editor (Nova).
I bought one, and that describes me to a t. A few hundred dollars isn't really a notable amount to me, and something about the stupid fricking console really appealed to me.
I have it on my desk at work now, as just a little curio.
I also like the PCs, and the original price of the OP1 ($799) was reasonable for a synth with its feature set
It’s when they started doing ridiculous shit like the $2000 OP1 Field that they jumped the shark and now they exclusively deal in consoom products

>conservatives actually love cancel culture, just not when lefties use it: example #42069
Truthnuke.
>damage-control samegayging this hard
(this is the part where you inspect-element the (You)s away and post screencaps "proving" not everyone hates your insufferable /misc/ bullshit)
Shills hate this post.
They hated him because he said the truth
Homeland Security is literally setting up centers to monitor chat in video games (https://theintercept.com/2024/03/09/fbi-dhs-gamers-extremism-violence/), and you’re arguing that people not buying games from companies that actively hate them is "authoritarian"
>not consooming is literally violence!
>won’t someone please think of the profit margin of the multinational corporation!
watching leftypol become little more than corporate boot stickers has been endlessly amusing
>nooo you need to care about my literally-who GG2 targets if the week because...
>....
>...Homeland Security!
pathetic
>not consooming is literally violence!
never said anything like that. it's just funny to see you engaging in the same behaviors you hate lefties for. nobody said cancel culture is "literally violence."
>won’t someone please think of the profit margin of the multinational corporation!
also didn't say anything like that either. see previous, you're clearly not obligated to not buy [product] if you do not like [product]. no one is seething over the fact that you won't buy [product]. that's a hell of a lot of specificity to glean from a single sentence.
>watching leftypol become little more than corporate boot stickers has been endlessly amusing
you are very bad at conversational sleight of hand.
yep, the feds are involved in Sweetbaby inc and all that cultural shifting israelitery, this is why they are so butthurt when someone mentions them.
>why do I care
>this is not 2015
all fedshits that need a dose of waco
>and you’re arguing that people not buying games from companies that actively hate them is "authoritarian"
Reading comprehension: F-
What's wrong with his reading comprehension?
How is a boycott "cancel culture"?
Is he calling for specific people to be fired? Is he calling for people to be shunned for their beliefs?
Also "overlords" would imply authoritarian measures.
It's interesting you just brush off the whole Homeland Security thing too.
I hate both rightoids and leftoids, but the rightoids are right on this one. Cope.
>Also "overlords" would imply authoritarian measures.
You also receive an F- in reading comprehension apparently.
F-, care to explain homosexual?
Pay closer attention to who is being labeled the authoritarian here, and who the one assigning that label is. Both of you have gotten that wrong so far.
That's not an explanation. Try again.
Left wing boycotts aren't cancel culture though. Cancel culture is getting someone fired because you disliked their opinion on something. You can try to frame me as a hypocrite, but I am not saying left wing boycotts are cancel culture either.
Also, cope.
Let me refine my previous statement slightly. Shutting someone out because of their beliefs and getting people fired is an example of cancel culture.
Not buying a product because you don't want to support a particular company is another.
>Maya Kramer is a whole company now
I don't even know who that is.
then why are you reflexively defending the targeting/shunning of Maya Kramer as a 'boycott' and not cancel culture despite that very action directly counting towards what you yourself define as cancel culture?
I just saw SBI and "DEI brownshirts" immediately pops into my brain. Because that's what it is.
>idk dude I just popped into the thread without reading any of it (because in an illiterate moron) and immediately took a side despite not understanding enough of the discussion to contribute to it in any meaningful way (because, again, I'm an illiterate moron)
>has a literal Manchurian Candidate style trigger word that forces him to recite the Script at will
Get deprogrammed soon <3
>That's not an explanation. Try again.
Yes, it is. You just can't read. Which I why I graded you an F-.
No u.
>i-it's a boycott when WE do it, it's cancel culture when THEY do it
cope
It's not 2015 anymore, no one gives a shit.
what does this have to do with anything? the device itself is fine, its just overpriced and lacks compatibility
Too few buttons
The Game Boy had more buttons
Because the crank is a moronic idea. Should've just made a Gameboy Color clone and kept the bite sized game idea and a focus on homebrew (and of course have a Game Boy emulator)
So basically make another of what everyone else has already done.
And there are already several GB emulators in development.
You can emulate the playdate on the steam deck and it looks x1000 better
Well, we all know the Playdate was a grift against moronic millennials paying $200 for $15 in parts. The Playdate's only interesting idea was making bite sized games and drip feeding them. But that's it, the crank is moronic. And you're moronic for buying it and not seeing it for what it was, a ripoff financial exploitation device for upper middle class white trannies.
> queue nintendo shitcube
... what the frick is teenage engineering?
An industrial design firm specializing in electronics and niche electronic musical instruments.
swedish cucks making expensive electronics with weird shit tacked on at a first glance
useless trash for homosexual nonces who deserve euthanasia
Better question is why would anyone expect it to succeed
I can get a beaten up, hacked 3DS for 1/10th of Playdate's price and get vastly superior experience with it.
>why buy new interesting thing when instead you could buy cheapshit discarded garbage for a couple pennies and a used napkin?
why do IQfytards always do this
>interesting thing
>literally overpriced plastic e-waste
>but obviously there are some moronic consoomers that justify paaaaaying for literal shit.
why do IQfytards always do this
>being this assblasted about a $200 yellow microconsole
>being assblasted about someone not buying your 200$ shitware.
Buy an ad homosexual.
nobody cares what you refuse to buy, that's actually the thing I've been trying to communicate to you this whole time. you do not matter at all.
>Thread about shit
>Someone discuss shit
>Tells you that it's shit
>NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU NOT LIKING MY SHIIIIIT!!!
Are you moronic? Why are you in this thread if you supposedly don't care about people's opinion about it?
>thread about shit
>barges into the thread to talk about unrelated shit
>throws a fricking fit when no one goes along with it
you might be the moronic one here.
They sold like 70k units already, how is that a failure?
Go woke, go broke.
I have it on my desk at work now, as just a little curio.
you can sell anything anon, its a cultural failure
>CRANK THE LITTLE HANDLE moron
Aww I remember this. Didn't realize it died. I was always curious about the crank games
>Didn't realize it died.
It didn't? Wasn't the play date a moderate success?
i'm not buying a shitty wind-up toy when retro handhelds exist
Teenage Engineering make overpriced stuff - but they also randomly made by far the best deal in music hardware (pic related)
I also like the PCs, and the original price of the OP1 ($799) was reasonable for a synth with its feature set
It’s when they started doing ridiculous shit like the $2000 OP1 Field that they jumped the shark and now they exclusively deal in consoom products
LOOKS LIKE SHIT
...wtf
April Fools. They are everywhere.
Never seen before this thread.
Seems to be code for: cool design and idea, to address a problem that no-one has.
The sort of stuff you come up with when out with friends in your teens and 20s, and starts with someone saying "Wouldn't it be cool if..."
>why did it fail. Besides it being a overpriced piece of shit
It's a gimmick.
The idea of unique handheld games like this is cute, until you realize that it's not really sustainable for anyone unless you're one of those adults/pedos with a plastic toy collection, or one of those chads who disposes of car batteries in the ocean.
that thing looks moronic, so maybe that's why
>BING WAHOO!
because it's a gimmick, nothing more than that
I only think about this toy for aging millennials when i seen threads made by people who are incredibly angry that it exists.
The economy where we get to make stupid shit that has no reason to exist, have it fail because nobody wants it, and still get paid is ending
We're basically converting from a class of priests nobody understands but who are associated with great abundance to just another job
How can I take you seriously with this troony image
This looks like something from Zhong on aliexpress for $29
The name is gay.
